Funghi e Tartufo' - Italian plant based restaurant

Who ever said that to eat vegan and earth friendly food you need to renounce the delicacies of traditional Italian cuisine?
Our Chef Alessandra D'Angelo moved to Australia from Sicily in 2009 and she has been working incessantly on vegetarian and vegan recipes since then.

At Funghi e Tartufo, she have turned plant-based food into something so delicious that you won't desire anything else!

In a converted 19th century warehouse in the heart of Melbourne CBD, Funghi e Tartufo – meaning Mushrooms and Truffle in honour of their signature dish – will offer you a unique experience leaving you breathless.

The inspiration is traditional Italian and the vision is a modern and earth friendly way to marry deliciousness with plant based food.

The food was delicious, the service was simply lovely and there was so much to choose from. It’s a bit pricey, just like everything else in the city, but the quality of the food was crafted carefully and well balanced, and well presented

Absolutely stunning plant based Italian food with great service and great staff. Funghi e Tartufo is up there with La Pura Vita on LA and Status Quo in Ostia Rome, my two fave plant based Italian restaurants I've visited, we will be back👍🏻

This might be the best vegan restaurant I’ve ever been to—maybe even better than anything I’ve tried in the States! Every dish was incredible. We started with the Tortina di Polenta, which had nice flavor. I’d probably skip it next time just to explore more of the menu. The Calamari Fritti, however, was hands down the best I’ve ever had. Super crispy, perfectly seasoned, and shockingly flavorful. I usually love sauces and dips, so I was initially concerned when it didn’t come with one, but it truly didn’t need it. For our mains, we had the Pappardelle Funghi e Tartufo and the Ravioli di Zucca. Both were outstanding. The ravioli was flavorful with a generous portion, but the pappardelle stole the show—rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. Everything was so delicious that we had to double-check it was all gluten-free and vegan. The restaurant is in a row among many other places..we actually missed it. Had to turn around and walk back. We sat outside, so I’m not sure about the indoor seating, but the service was excellent. Everyone was super helpful, patient, and kind. We will definitely return!

Excellent service by the lass on the floor with her knowledge of the menu and served without interupting the table and served everyone correctly.

Absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVED the vegan food. Just absolutely glorious and to die for!! I'll be dreaming about that food for years. The only issues we had was the additional charges that weren't relayed to us. At the start the waitress said, "I'll get you some water. Would you like clear or sparkling?". We said sparkling. We did not ask for this, we were offered this. We were then charged $10 for sparkling water. We spent $200 at the venue, and when we were paying the waitress said, "is that a credit or debit card?". My husband accidentally said credit, but then I corrected him and told her it was a debit card. But we were then charged $4 for a credit card fee. We were then asked to pay a tip. I would 180% return here for the food. But I was quite upset

Been wanting to eat here for awhile, i was left really disappointed and although i know it was a busy night for valentine’s day so the service was short staffed. The food was not worth the price i was paying, we ordered, Polenta, bread, gnocchi and carbonara. The polenta was watery and flavourless and dry at the same time, strange eating texture. The gnocchi was ok but wasn’t actually covered in any sauce and the sauce was a bit runny (again watery?) and i felt like i could have made it better at home, as felt like i was just eating potatoes and drinking soup. The bread did not taste fresh and being toasted didn't help cover that up. The carbonara was the only dish that was possibly worth the price serving size was pretty ok, and i did like the smokey flavours. With the the reputation of your restaurant i'm sure you can do better and was possibly just a busy night, so i’m not going to do a google review however i hope u take this feedback on board as a plant based fine dining Italian restaurant in melbourne is such a great addition to our eatery, would like to return for a better experience in the future.

Worst meal we had in a very long time. 3 people, 3 dishes, one worst than the other. And, by the way, over-priced. Don’t even think about it.

Almost all dishes a big hit with this omni family group. Pea pesto and tomato bruschetta enjoyed by all for starters. Pasta choices (lasagna, mushrooms and carbonara all hits) and calamari especially great, chicken very hard, not a good choice unfortunately. Meatloaf also tasty, would like to come back and try polpette. Desserts excellent too, we had chocolate cheesecake, tiramisu and caggionetti, all great but very sweet. Only criticism apart from my hard flavourless chicken was the seeming lack of air conditioning. Everyone enjoyed and wants to return, thank you.
