Boy oh boy is it nice to hear good news! That was the feeling – or simply pure relief – among many a European food, culture and beer lover in Hong Kong when news broke that FRITES bar and restaurant has found a new home in Central. Occupying a large space on Wellington Street just steps from the escalator, FRITES is again ready to dish up Belgian beer, big-hearted cheer and superlative European food in the heart of the action. The new space is impressive, with interior design by Stephen Hart and unique crockery from Robert Gordon giving FRITES a stylish vibe, but as always it’s the amazing Belgian beer selection – over 80 choices, including traditional monk-in-a-monastery-made trappiste options – and gorgeous European food that makes FRITES hard to beat, from succulent sausages and schnitzels to their famous bucket of mussels with intriguing dressings. Try their express business lunch or take advantage of their five-hour happy ‘hour,’ but be sure to book because the buzz has begun!
