   1:00 PM lunchtime; I had a reservation, but there was no waiting if you didn't. I got the 3-piece chicken dinner from the luncheon menu, not the all-you-can-eat feast with salads/soup -- I wanted to eat all the entree this time :-) It still came with breads and butter (no jam). I had the 22 oz mug of home-made root beer (excellent, as I can say because I make my own too). It being Pi Day, I asked if they had any pies for dessert, and they *DIDN't*! The closest I could get was a cranberry/apple strudel. Afterwards I went downstairs to the bakery in the shops area and bought a large cherry pie to take home. I had toyed with getting one of the luncheon samplers (chicken, schnitzel, sauerbraten), but in the end I wanted lots of chicken. I need more days in Frankenmuth to have it all.

   I first ate at the Bavarian Inn in spring 1980 while on a 1-day field trip with my high school German class. I' didn't make it back again until 2012, but this is now my 4th time back since then, and first time since 2019. I can't manage an all-you-can-eat chicken dinner anymore, so I ordered the sauerbraten dinner. Started with white/fruit bread, 4 salads (chicken, carrot, cranberry-apple, and cole slaw), and chicken noodle soup. The dozen slices of sauerbraten came on a large metal platter with 3 potato puffs and 3 sides (sauerkraut, noodles with breadcrumbs, and squash). Dessert was a dish of vanilla soft-serve ice cream. I also got a 22 oz mug of homemade root beer. Everything was excellent, as usual. I sat in the Bavarian Room, which has murals of Grimm's fairy tale scenes painted on every wall (I have the Snow White and the Seven Dwarves corner). Service was great, I had plenty of time to eat everything. A family with 2 small kids was at a nearby booth and their waitress was doing a great job. I made reservations for 4:15 PM on a weekday to beat the rush. The Bavarian Inn is one of the 3 reasons to come to Frankenmuth (the other 2 are Zehnder's and the fudge), and has never disappointed. Between the Bavarian Inn and Zehnder's, I prefer the Bavarian Inn, mostly because they have many more German dishes on their menu. $32 meal, $7 root beer, excellent value. Will eat here at least once more before my vacation is over.

   You can always count on the consistency of the taste of the food at Bavarian Inn. Today they had a carrot salad which was kind of vinegary. It was good. They did not have that last time we visited. We had a noon reservation which for us was ideal. We were there before it got too busy which I like. They did have an accordian player walking around the tables which my Hubby didn't appreciate but I did. Our server was very good.

   We love this place! The dinner is an experience, from the moment you step through the doors. Every single person is welcoming and friendly. There is always live music to set the mood in the restaurant. The chicken is legendary, with all the fixings you can’t go wrong. We do a family dinner here at least once a year! Make the trip to this iconic town and definitely eat here! Delicious food with friendly people!

    Always busy. Had reservations, but sat 20+ minutes after set time. Lady who was in front of us had her reservation for 30 minutes later than ours, showed up early... and they sat her before us. Odd.
