We loved everything we ordered. Fish Fragrant eggplant was delish. The free bites were yummy. We had the Mapo Spaghetti which was nice & spicy (we love spice). We also had the Hokkien style fried rice. Shared a bottle of “Mukade Nigori an unfiltered Sake” really complimented the meal nicely. We had a very late reservation so unfortunately there were many items on the menu that weren’t available. That was disappointing so we’ll have to return with an early reservation if we must 😊.

We walked in right at 7:45pm and the people outside said it was a 1 hour walk-in wait at 7:45pm! The place wasn't that full when we walked in ad there were some open tables, but they filled up pretty quickly with reservations. It was so cool seeing Chefs Franky Ho and Mike Long (two Mister Jiu's alums) and their partners Millie Boonkokua and Lucy Li in person working. I've seen their pictures and read their names so much, I fangirled internally. We were seated at the bar next to each other which was fine. I love the art and Canto decor. It's cozy and warm and nostalgic and modern all at once. We enjoyed the complimentary peanuts and cucumber--that was a good starter because we didn't order any vegetables because too many other dishes sounded good. Our waitress said 3 dishes would be good for 2 people--maybe 4 if we got fewer carb-heavy dishes. We ordered the squab ($45) (limited quantities), Mapo spaghetti ($21), and claypot Rice w/ Chinese sausage & Bacon ($26.) We had high expectations for the squab and claypot (which they said would take 30 minutes, but seemed like it was faster.) The squab grew on us--the lemon and powder we were given for it helped amplify the flavor. The claypot was very good--the crispy crackling rice was delicious and rich. The sausage and bacon wasn't fatty but flavorful. The highlight of the night was the Mapo spaghetti.

Amazing food and service. Everything tastes great, just make sure you have adequate spice tolerance for the spicy dishes!

Great dishes, elevated and delicious! Service is good (lots of water refills) and dishes come out quickly. If you sit at the counter, you’re pretty crammed and don’t get as much exposure to the restaurant decor, but can still jam out to the cantopop songs. Sure, you can find similar dishes for much less in other Chinatown establishments but the creativity and flavors were there. Only miss of a dish for our party of 2 was the huckleberry silken tofu, which was somewhat salty and the huckleberry on top was somewhat astringent and grainy. Everything else was so good! Would definitely like to go back and try more dishes!

Scallops with Vermicelli and the squad were out of this world. Mopa spaghetti was a bit salty. Other dishes were fine. Restaurant was small but a surprisingly large number of counter seating which we enjoyed. Ambience was spartan with a Hong Kong Canto Pop theme. Waitresses were super friendly. We will come again

Just all around amazing!! We did one of the specials (fried frog) and then a handful of items from the normal menu - and truly every dish was incredible. Can’t wait to find a reservation and go back!!

The flavors played together like a symphony of perfectly orchestrated sensations! The cabbage and the spaghetti were “first chair”. The servers were very friendly, patient in explaining the dishes, enthusiastic and super friendly! It as a five star dinner in every possible way.
