I attended the Flatiron Hotel's Mother's Day Brunch on Sunday, May 12th, 2024. The food was good, and the service during the meal was good, but being erroneously charged nearly $1000 for brunch for 4 people negated anything good about the experience.
As we were finishing our meal, a manager (I think; it wasn't our server) approached and said something like "We have your signature, but somehow didn't get your credit card?" I said I hadn't even seen my bill yet. She apologized and I chalked it up as a mixup on her part.
When I did give my card to my server, it took about 15 minutes before I got it back. Everything looked correct, and I assured my server I would leave her a favorable review (she asked two or three times, then handed me a Renaissance Boulder-branded card with a QR code on it), but after leaving the hotel I saw two charges to my bank: one for $361, the actual cost, and another for over $500. From what I was told later, it seems they charged me for our meal as well as the meal of whoever had sat at our table before us.
Almost three days later and I've been assured that all the erroneous charges (they dropped the $500 charge and replaced it with a $361 charge and a $461 charge--I tipped $100) should drop from my account by tomorrow.
I did get the equivalent of a "whoops, sorry about that" from multiple managers; you can decide for yourself if that makes up for it.
I would recommend another location if you want top-tier service commensurate with top-tier prices (the Hilton is right next door). The Hilton also probably don't force their serving staff to beg patrons for reviews, so I imagine it'd be a better experience all around.
