   ミュージカル前の軽い食事でしたが、生牡蠣、エビも大変新鮮で美味しく味付けも良かったです。 wineもすっきりした味わいでシーフードによく合いました。

   Our waitress was very nice and the food was good. It did get very noisy and it was quite pricey for what it was.

   I went to Fishworks Covent Garden for a pre-theatre dinner. Only one other couple was in the restaurant at 5:10 when I entered. The staff were welcoming. When seated, I asked for the menu; I was presented with the a-la-carte menu, ......I had to ask specifically for the pre-theatre menu ! I ordered off the latter menu. The waiter didn't even answer when I asked about the price of oysters but proceeded to reel-off the different types of oysters they had....no mention of the offer of 'oysters @ £1.50 each' advertised on a blackboard outside. I assumed that the offer applied and ordered #3 oysters of different types and requested these before the 'starter'. The oysters arrived at the same time as the starter! They were very small and nothing special. My whitebait starter was very good, as was the main of mackerel; though there was little evidence of cauliflower puree which was supposed to accompany the mackerel. When the bill arrived, it showed #3 oysters charged at £5 each [not he £1.50 on the billboard] and a "Service charge of 12.5%" ...... no mention of whether the service charge was discretionary, so I asked and was told "Yes, it's discretionary". Irritated at these 'sleight -of-hand' processes i.e. oyster prices and service charge, I asked for the service charge to be removed, paid the bill and left with a bit of a sour taste in my mouth !! Raise your game, Fishworks !!

   We have eaten here a couple of times before without any problems but unfortunately this visit was not a good one! Firstly my wife’s starter (the prawns) mainly consisted of heads & tails so not much inside either to eat. Secondly it took about an hour from when we ordered for our main course to arrive. To be fair the waiter did apologise though he didn’t explain why it was taking so long particularly as the restaurant wasn’t even half full. I did point out to him that we had nearly finished our wine so he brought us a couple of glasses on the house. The food (hake special) was ok & was properly cooked. Thirdly, we ordered a couple of sweet dishes to finish, my wife ordered the home made lemon tart which proved to not be a good choice because after a couple of spoonfuls she noticed a black hair sticking out of the side of it. Needless to say we asked for the duty manager immediately! She was apologetic & offered my wife a replacement. I did query with her why this had happened especially as all kitchen staff should be wearing hats or nets to cover their heads. When it came to pay she obviously didn’t charge for the tart & took 10% off the bill….on reflection given the stress this incident caused my wife it should have been considerably more!! The manager also said it would be followed up on Monday morning (which I sincerely hope it was), though to date I have not received any response to this serious breach of food safety.

   What can we say apart from -AMAZING and total YUMMERS The service team are outstanding and really knowledgeable and engaging. They were attentive without pressure to order The food was surreal with a great and reasonably priced wine choice

    A fantastic place to eat, lovely well informed staff who treat you like an old friend, and then there is the food which is perfectly cooked, can’t think of anywhere nicer to eat!!
