Went for a birthday celebration during Happy Hour. Great to have the option for people to spend more or less as they please. So nice to be able to converse with others down the table without raising our voices! Will definitely go again with my family. Good, attentive service.

Until the TriCitirs gets a high end restaurant this is the choice place to bring out of town guests for the food and the service.

We come to Bookwalter regularly and love their food and wine. This time we came on a busy Friday evening. Normally that would be fine, but this time, while we made an OpenTable reservation prior to coming, the Host/Hostess had no awareness of our reservation. This is the second time that's happened. As a result, they told us they had only 2 tables available for us to choose from -- one right by the front door -- which would have left us essentially dining with the Host/Hostess, or 1 small table in the back, which required us to climb over 3 people to get to. We chose the small table in the back because it offered a modicum of quiet as compared to the other table, but that left us sitting in the dark for much of the dinner, until someone came and finally lit the candle on our table (we had asked this to be done roughly 20 min before they got around to it). Our waiter was moderately attentive -- he was friendly, but he was the only server on the back patio, where we were seated. I think he was just overwhelmed. We'll definitely be back, but we won't bother with the whole OpenTable thing. Of course, that requires them to answer the phone. That would be a separate issue...it often takes a few tries to get someone on the phone. *Le sigh*

The food and the service was very good. I would not recommend sitting in the kitchen, it was a little loud and it was cold. The rest of the restaurant seemed to have good ambiance but they did not have our reservation (they were not getting reservations from open table) so they sat us in a table in the corner by the kitchen. I would absolutely go again, the food was fantastic and the server was very warm and a good communicator.

Great wine great food nice people the specials are fun and the menu is very complete but not too big. The happy hour specials are a very good way to experience the restaurant on a budget.

Was disappointed they changed Happy Hour. They switched waiters on us mid-service and never followed up on wine flights, water or much else. Cheese plate needs work, a pile of gerkins? Not one of the better days.

Our seating location was right next to the kitchen. I felt like I was screaming just to talk to my date. The food was great though.

We will give you one more chance, but the first experience was not what we expected at all. I've already left a review about our experience and honestly if you didn't get that one, then saying it again won't matter .

Wow! Visiting Richland one wouldn't expect, necessarily, to encounter a wonderful restaurant with a splended performance by the kitchen. We started with two glasses of Bookwalter wine -- my partner had Chenin Blanc and I thoroughly enjoyed the Protagonist (circa 2013 -- rated at 91 points!). My starter caesar salad (at a very reasonable $5) was fantastic. Quite a large portion, lightly dressed but garlicky flavor. Locally sourced romaine was crisp and wonderful. My partner thoroughly enjoyed her wedge salad with a sliced sirloin steak, cooked perfectly to order. My taste buds were treated to housemade mushroom ravioli, with a delicious cream sauce with bacon and sliced mushrooms. Off the charts!! It was rich but a perfect match to the Protagonist wine. Very memorable. If you live in the Tri-Cities, count yourself very lucky that you have this wonderful restaurant in your back yard. I would love to return.
