What’s in the name you ask? We don’t really know, other than the fact that it has a good ring to it.

Nothing really about this place makes much sense. Are we a butcher shop or a restaurant? Are we a butcher shop inside of a restaurant? Or a restaurant inside of a butcher shop?

In our spare time we like to build fires and cook food over wood, you can hire us to do that. We make all of our own charcuterie in house, and we’re determined to get better at that everyday.

How do two concepts operate together in harmony? We don’t really know yet, but we will work at it ‘til it’s seamless. One thing we do know, all of the meat served and sold between these four walls is strictly derived from whole animals butchered in-house, sourced from happy places.

Great dining experience! We started off with the tartine (excellent), followed by the squid (lightly breaded, tender, delicious) and the veal sweatbreads (very good, a little heavy on the breading for my taste). Next up: the mushrooms and polenta (great) and, finally, the spinach with beef tongue (great dish!). Dessert was the poached pear (poached to perfection). The service was excellent, the noise-level, on the other hand, a little high. The bill came to close to $100 per person (only one glass of wine between the two of us), which is what you have to expect to pay for this sort of quality nowadays.

Sorry, this was a very off experience. The wine was sour and needed to be exchanged, yes it happens. The wine list by the glass needs some better listings. We picked out a few meats and cheeses. The Ndjua was Rick hard yet described as a spreadable pork pate. The sourdough bread that cane with it was charred on one side and not toasted on the other. The burger arrived on a side plate slightly bigger than the burger itself... why such a tiny plate for a big messy burger? One bite and it was a bit full of salt. It was sent back and another was made that was much better. Overall the night was a disappointment. I have dined there 3 times and invited a friend who was trying Fat Rabbit for the first time. She was underwhelmed. The service was good, but should have addressed these issues better.

Was very disappointed with our overall experience at The Fat Rabbit. 2+ hours from entry, with a reservation to our main being served. A couple who arrived about 5 minutes AFTER us, without a reservation, were seated before us while we waited for our reserved table to be ready. We are also a couple! Our app arrived about an hour later. One of our 2 sides arrived 30 minutes later. We were then told, after I asked not voluntarily told, our steaks were not cooked to their standards so another 35 -40 minutes later we waited for our steaks and second side. They did bring another plate of our first side so all could be served together. 🤦 When we finally got our steaks they were extremely salty to the point I could barely ate half! All excuses, no explanations. When asked if I would like a new one I said no, as my backside was already sore from sitting there that long on their hard, wooden chairs. Plus I really didn't want to wait another 2 hours! This was our anniversary dinner, at my insistence as I had heard good things about this restaurant. Our server said she would talk to the manager about our experience, well apparently the manager didn't care as he/she didn't bother to come talk to us at all. Would I go back? NO Would I recommend? NO The sides and the app were tasty, I'll give them that, but even hubby who likes salt more than me agreed the steaks were over salted. $300 for 1 app, 2 sides, 2 of their small sized steaks,. 1 bottle of wine and a disappointing experience. I wouldn't have minded the price so much if it were a more positive night.

Incredible food. We did the charcuterie and sour dough and it was delicious. Loved watching the chef carve the shoulder behind the counter.

Overall the meal was fantastic! Our server did a great job of explaining how the menu worked, but we were still slightly confused by how to build our order. That being said; the food, value, and speed of service was exceptional, and certainly the best in the city.
