Falansai ("fuh-lan-sigh") is a Vietnamese-Mexican restaurant by chef Eric Tran located in the heart of Bushwick, Brooklyn. Just past historical warehouses and vintage clothing shops, you will discover the unique approach to elevated fusion where distinctive Vietnamese and Mexican flavors are artfully remixed with the best seasonal ingredients, while good vibes pulse in the background.

Explore our signature Super and Classic Dac Biet dinner menus or dive into some of our celebrated dishes from the A La Carte options.

Falansai was established in 2013, and reimagined in 2020. Henry Trieu originally opened Falansai in 2013 and named the restaurant for his father's pronunciation of the word "français." Henry closed the restaurant in early 2020 and sold it to Chef Eric Tran. Falansai "2.0" was reimagined in November of 2020. As a Vietnamese-Mexican and American from Chi-Town (and now New Yorker), diners can expect the unexpected from Eric's cooking.

Experiences

  • Falansai "Dac Biet" Tasting Experience

    $58.00 per person

    Multiple dates available
At $58 per person, the Dac Biet is a three-course tasting that starts with our signature Dad’s Egg Rolls & papaya-vermicelli salad served family style. The second course is a diner’s choice of one main event: Honey Glazed Pork Shoulder, Black Sea Bass, or Lemongrass Beef Skewers over Vietnamese broken rice, with seasonal vegetables in broth. Final course is a chef’s choice dessert. All savory items are enjoyed with an abundance of house pickles, ferments, and sauces. Flavors and cooking techniques reflect Chef Eric’s heritage as a Vietnamese-Mexican American. We recommend full table participation. We can accommodate vegetarians and vegans.

  • Falansai "SUPER Dac Biet" Tasting Experience

    $88.00 per person

    Multiple dates available
At $88 per person, the SUPER Dac Biet is a five-course tasting, served family style, and enjoyed w/ an abundance of house pickles, ferments, and sauces. Flavors and cooking techniques reflect Chef Eric’s heritage as a Vietnamese-Mexican American. Diners typically receive 5 different savory plates in 2-3 waves, with accompaniments and dessert to finish. The first round of savories are interactive small plates that we encourage you to enjoy with your hands. The second round is a substantial course centered around a showcase protein. We recommend full table participation so that we have an opportunity to showcase and cook the most exciting seasonal products from our favorite farms, butchers, and fishmongers.

Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Falansai shines with its inventive and flavorful fusion of Vietnamese and Mexican cuisine, offering "incredible" food and "splendid" service. The wine pairings and attentive staff enhance the experience, while the atmosphere is reminiscent of "a 1970s tropicalia music producer's living room." A top choice for groups seeking a vibrant dining experience.

Excellent as always. Falansai's full tasting menu, what's now called the 'Super' Dac Biet, has been a regular feature of our birthday/anniversary dinner rotation for years now (I maintain you're doing it wrong if you only order ala carte here) and it's always a blast. The team does an amazing job of making really high-end, inventive cooking feel fun and casual. I have to give a huge shout-out to the beverage program as well; Falansai's wine list might have the most reasonable prices of any decent restaurant in New York right now (a five-course wine pairing for $65 in this day and age is nuts) and there's always something interesting and unexpected on offer. Even the really baller bottles (which you might have to ask to see the reserve list to know about in the first place), which are often on par with the best wine you can buy anywhere in the city, are sold at astoundingly fair prices. Falansai is a gem of an increasingly rare breed in NYC.

Not only was the food incredible, but the ambiance was so cozy, and my server was really well-versed, genuine, and kind. Well worth the trip. I came from Chicago knowing I wanted to have this meal, and I was not disappointed whatsoever. Incredible.

Excellent, friendly, accommodating service. Inventive, flavorful food made with a lot of care and attention. But also a fun, easy place. Worked well for our group of six. On NYT's top 100 restaurant list for a reason.

Food was delicious, service was great and wine list had some gems. Overall a nice night but we didn’t feel like the value of the tasting menu was worth it relative to the menu. One of the tasting menu courses was literally a single dumpling each. A few of us were still hungry after the full thing, was $85 per person without drinks, tax or tip. Would have preferred to order a bunch of dishes a la carte and share.

The restaurant was great. It was a good amount of food, unlike some tasting menus. The food was all great and interesting. We definitely want to go back and try some of the other dishes we didn't get last time.
