Our inspiration is the Zeus Faber… John Dory, one of many local fish that can be fished sustainably and from our shores and although it has a wonderful Latin come Greek name it also has a very British name, John Dory.

Faber is the Latin word for ‘Smith’ – Like a few other Latin occupational names (e.g. Agricola for farmer, Nauta for sailor). Smith being the most common name in English we decided it sits well with our name as we want to be accessible to all and give everyday people the opportunity to be part of our journey and own the business they work in.

What sets us apart is our commitment to working with local fishmongers who run out to the coast each evening to collect day-boat fish and local ingredients. This means that everything on our menu is fresh, sustainably sourced, and supports the local economy.

We believe in creating dishes that are not only delicious but also ethical and responsible.

Faultless food, delicious smoked haddock croquettes and mussels for starters- I don't like mussels but tried one and these melted in your mouth. Lovely John Dory and trout, perfect light and crisp chips. So nice to see slightly unusual puddings, properly home made meringue with quince, lovely! Service friendly but a little bit odd, drinks menu without food menu meant we missed things like olives and almonds, I'd finished my starter before my guest's arrived, we had to remind that we were going to a gig at 7.30pm which seemed to have been forgotten. Fantastic food, friendly service but could be a bit more on point.

Perfectly cooked fish every time. We had the John Dory in an amazing green herb sauce and steam cockles- a perfect dish.

Such a lovely addition to the Hammersmith dining scene. Faber puts a lot of effort into hospitality, with each team member doing their best to be attentive and anticipate your needs. The focus on coastal English specialties is lovely and you get a true sense of the provenance of the menu, from local wines to cocktails to imaginative mains. It's a pleasure to sip an expertly prepared cocktail (the Sugar Kelp Old Fashioned is a personal favourite, but the Holy Grass Bloody Mary is delicious too and has a proper spicy kick to it) while enjoying the bustle that invariably attends the space, making you feel like you're part of a scene. Daily specials on the chalk board showcase the best of the local catch, while the regular menu hosts excellent shareable small plates and main course staples like mussels or steak. We've been a number of times already and will definitely be back.

Incredible experience! I don’t eat much fish, so I felt a bit lost, especially with the oysters. The server noticed and was super helpful—he showed me how to break them off the shell. His recommendations were spot on as well! We ended up having monkfish fillets, john dory, oysters, lobster croquettes, brown crab, etc. Great place and really nice vibe.

Friendly and polite service, quieter table request accommodated, very fresh fish and great flavours! Only the sourdough (burnt crust, uncooked sticky dough) was surprisingly disappointing as everything else really was spot on. Thank you
