We came for the Breakfast for Santa but apparently that's only on Saturdays ( it was a Sunday). Then we sat at our table for 40 minutes before our order was taken. During the time we waited to put our order in, a waitress came by and asked if we ordered yet, when we said no she asked if she could borrow our menu for another table and would bring it back - she never came back. When we finally did order they were all out of avocado which was a bummer. People that were sitting close to us and showed up after us were getting their food before us. The atmosphere was odd. Felt like we were in a conference room that was decorated for Christmas's service was bad and then food was boring.

Our server was great, but the restaurant was as woefully understaffed, and no one had empowered the bussing staff to help guests. We watched customers berate the manager, then watched the manager berate servers in front of guests. The hostess had no idea what she was doing and called and texted to tell me that our table was ready, despite the fact that we’d been seated for 40 minutes. It took 90 minutes to get food from the time we were seated, 20 minutes to get water from when we were seated, 25 minutes to get menus (they didn’t have enough menus for all their guests), 40 minutes to get drinks - you get the point. This was not a failure of the staff. They were trying. There was no meaningful management, and it was uncomfortable and stressful to watch. Everyone is short staffed. It’s up to those in charge to step up and address the issue. No one here tried unless you begged to speak to a manager.

Wow, what a difference from what it used to be when it was a buffet. We drove all the way from Fort Collins with the old beautiful buffet at Brown Palace in mind. Order from the menu and not even have table cloths?😥😥. Very disappointing. Next special event is either Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, or find another restaurant in Denver.

we have been to a lot of santa brunches over the years and this is our first at the brown palace … considering we have found the afternoon tea wonderful and unique and worth every penny, I thought the brunch would have a higher quality. The buffet was poorly run with kids running everywhere, no adults in sight to stop the mayhem of kids grabbing food with their hands or making massive messes. Minimally parents should be told when they arrive that children need to be escorted to the buffet… hot chocolate was all over the floor, half the food didn’t have things to use, the food was sub-par at best. The wait staff was extremely un-communicative not giving any direction when we arrived … we ordered an orange juice and a mimosa and were charged for two bottomless mimosas at $35 each, we were never once told when we sat any type of direction for the buffet or santa or any discussion of the menu at all, just sat down and given water. It was a solid 15 minutes until we were asked if we wanted something other than the water, and the staff and entire venue looked disheveled and a bit grimy. For a place like the Brown Palace I expected at least some order and cleanliness, even if the food wasn’t good I could have dealt with that but it was pretty gross and really a waste of money. If you were debating this vs going to a mall santa you might as well save the difference and go to a mall santa which I have never said in regards to any santa brunch ever.

The breakfast with Santa Claus has been a favorite annual event. The price per person has increased from previous years at $75 adults and $40 for kids. The choices of food from the buffet has declined from before. There were similar breakfast items, but no omelet station and other choices to match the high prices. Santa was there and a musician played the piano, but that should not justify the exorbitant cost per person. Overall it was a good day.

This place is a scam. $75 for a glorified continental breakfast is not worth it. If I could give zero stars I would.

Hal, our Server was fantastic! Food was good, some of the plates on the Buffett station, were dirty: I noticed several times. Remodel- nice, but very loud, due to the new, marble style, floors.

I am so disappointed. The historic details of Ellyngton's have all been eliminated - beautiful wallpaper, real wooden chairs, server dressed for high-service, and so on - and have been replaced with a boring remodel. The tile floor is reminiscent of any other modern-day hotel, with morning modern chairs. The buffet was horrible as well, basically a glorified Residence Inn meal, instead of the beautiful buffet of years past with ice carvings and shrimp displays, omelet stations, and beautiful displays of appetizing and delicious food choices. Of course they've kept the price as it once was but gotten rid of anything of value. I'm so sad and disappointed. The Brown Palace is supposed to be a high-end luxurious hotel, now it's just a beautiful exterior and beautiful architecture hiding the insides of another Marriott.

Unfortunately, this experience has really gone down hill over the years. The food was awful… the lights were on so bright and the experience just made me feel very sad reminiscing about how it used to be.
