ELEM is a new restaurant and cocktail lab on Main + 5th.

Guests can expect to indulge in Top Chef Canada alum Mayekar’s bold cooking, featuring creative flavour-packed dishes that highlight the unique spices from cuisines around the world with local ingredients, alongside Winnie Sun’s inventive, element-inspired and sustainability-driven cocktails.

ELEM’s food menu is an exploration of flavours and spices from all corners of the world, including Bangkok, California, Spain, Mexico, Italy, and Mumbai – all inspired by Mayekar’s extensive travels and Indian heritage. There will also be a big focus on local BC-grown ingredients.

The 2,946 square foot, 76-seat space was designed by Vancouver-based Marko Simcich Architect and features three dining spaces and an open window into the kitchen to see the chefs at work.

    Tuna was so so, not horrible but we’ve had better multiple other places. The crab toast was ok, but sauce was room temp, and server said it’s meant to be served that way. It would have been better if sauce was warm, and needs extra bread to soak up sauce. The lamb was outstanding! Pasta with short rib and egg yolk was melt in your mouth but sauce was an odd consistency. While the service was very good, the food was not consistently good, so we walked away disappointed overall.

    Giorgio & the rest of the servers were such a delight! The food was delicious I highly recommend the lamb. The ambience & the design is beautiful. Minimal & modern. I will definitely be back. 10/10 recommend

    Service is fantastic, we like Sophia a lot and are very happy to meet her. Overall, the vibe and service are great. The popcorn desert is a must have!

    The restaurant itself is very beautiful and neat how the different elements are incorporated. The food was STUNNING. Every single dish unique and bursting with flavour. This is the type of restaurant who will be looking for a star in the future. Well done.

    Unbelievable! Super tasty dishes. Unique blend of spices. Superb hospitality. Attention to details from greeting to serving, from manners to professionalism. We are huge fans of Zarak restaurant, and we knew that Hassim and his team will shine, but honestly it was a lot more than we expected. Chef Vish is truly a superstar. We will be back in a heartbeat!

    Amazing experience! The lamb skewers were one of the best dishes I’ve ever had. The service was great - very personal and attentive without being pretentious.

    My mom and I really enjoyed our overall experience at Elem. The restaurant was open and the food was good. We felt that the food was good but not outstanding, which we thought would be based on the price. However, the service was excellent and exceptional as we don't get that at many restaurants nowadays. There was attention to detail, with kind and thoughtful staff!

    The restaurant is really beautifully designed! The servers were all super friendly and explained each drink and dish thoroughly. Server checked on us often to make sure that everything was okay. Would come back again for another girls night out or date night
