Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Ducie Street Warehouse boasts a "fantastic venue and food" with a dog-friendly atmosphere. Standout service, especially from "Indi," enhances the dining experience. While some dishes like the Sunday Roast have mixed reviews, desserts like crumble and sticky toffee pudding delight. Perfect for "great atmosphere" and drinks, it remains a lovely spot to visit.

The restaurant is gorgeous and the staff were really lovely, however it was quite disappointing to have a lot of the menu unavailable to us, and we would have had more drinks if we had the opportunity to order more. I would probably go again, but not for dinner or for a special occasion.

After having a pleasant dining experience here in 2022, we thought to return and take our friends who were visiting the city to DSW for dinner. We left embarrassed and it was arguably my worst dining experience in Manchester after living in the city for 5 years. Where to even begin ? By 8pm they had told us that there was no pizza dough left and we had to change our meal plans. We ordered sourdough and balsamic and they bought out basically a burnt hovis loaf. How any respectable restaurant brings this out under the name of sourdough is shocking. The caesar salad main was another laughable meal, missing key ingredients and was at the same level ( if not worse ) than a supermarket caesar salad packet . The staff were unwelcoming and uninterested, and just an overall unpleasant experience.

The food quality was really bad- no flavour and very very basic. We got the small plates so thought maybe we ordered the wrong thing but from 5 dishes you would expect some to be flavourful. Had to ask for the menu, to order, and a desert menu. First time in a long time I have been disappointed when eating out.

Chicken was overcooked and the burger bun was burnt which was a shame.

Really quite disappointed with the Sunday Roast, considering it had been listed as in the top ten in Manchester. The roast potatoes weren't cooked, they were actually chewy like theyd been cooked the day before then reheated. The cheese in the cauliflower was like a provelone so very stringy then hard once cool, and not creamy at all. The gravy was just basic granules. We weren't offered any condiments or asked why so much food was left uneaten, we politely explained and were told the chef would be imformed. The best part of the Sunday Roast was dessert.. Both the crumble and sticky toffee pudding were delicious so at least we didnt leave hungry. The atmosphere was flat and the venue virtually empty, which was fortunate as our booking via Opentable hadn't been registered in their system.

Thank you Andie for your detailed feedback. We’re sorry to hear that our Sunday Roast didn’t meet your expectations, especially given the high standards we aim for. Your comments about the roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, and gravy are concerning, and we’ll address these with our kitchen team immediately. We’re glad you enjoyed the desserts and appreciate you highlighting those. We also regret the issue with your booking and the lack of atmosphere during your visit. These are areas we’ll work on to improve. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we hope to have the chance to provide a much better experience in the future.

The veggie / vegan pie was lovely, good portions, and the cabbage was 10/10. Yorkshire’s were over done and potato’s were bland, the hummus was just inedible sadly. The male waiter was brilliant, the rest of the team lacked hospitality
Ducie Street WarehouseResponded on December 28, 2024
Thank you for your feedback Kay! We’re glad you enjoyed the veggie/vegan pie and cabbage, but we’re sorry the Yorkshire puddings, potatoes, and hummus didn’t hit the mark. It’s great to hear your waiter provided excellent service, though we’ll address the team-wide hospitality to ensure consistency. We appreciate your comments and hope to welcome you back for an improved experience soon!

The restaurant space was closed, but that was not informed in my booking. We sat at the bar, which is a lovely space. Menu have changed since my last visited; they used to serve haute cuisine and now they only have bar food, which is not good. The Manchester Mule was delicious, though. I'd return for drinks but not for food.
Ducie Street WarehouseResponded on December 28, 2024
Thank you for your feedback Luan. We apologise for the inconvenience caused by the restaurant being closed during your visit. Our restaurant is closed on Mondays, but our bar remains open. We’re glad you enjoyed the Manchester Mule and the bar ambiance! While our menu has changed to better suit the bar setting, we appreciate your comments and will take them into consideration. We hope to welcome you back soon for drinks and a great experience.

Food was awful, roasties were hard, broccoli distasteful, beef dry and bland, waiter took our order and never seen her until asked someone else for the bill and the waiter re appeared and included service charge. £65 all in and when I wanted to talk to someone no one around and just stop caring at this point and left. Definitely won’t be back
