Welcome to Down the Hatch - EDINBURGH!

We are a diner focusing on diner style food with big flavour, fresh ingredients, huge taste and all things Canadian!!

Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult and are not permitted from 8pm onwards.

We have a 10 minute grace period for your booking. Please give us a call if you are running late for your booking.

Your table will be booked for 1 hour 15 minutes for bookings of up to 6 people; and 1 hour 45 minutes for bookings of 7+.

We have a limited number of outside tables. These are not bookable at the moment and are on a first come, first served basis.

Last bookings are 9.15pm as our kitchen closes at 9.45pm, 7 days a week.

    Arrived on time, after 20 mins of waiting, we had to ask for our order to be taken. When food arrived one of the orders was incorrect. Advised after 1hr 15mins that we had to vacate our table in 5 mins so unable to order anything else and then error with bill, overcharged for 1 meal.

    Good variation on food choices and excellent service. First time at Down the Hatch and would definitely go again and recommend it to others.

    Charged a 10% service charge. Toilets were awful. Great food but charging a service was a disgrace. Won’t be back for that reason.

    Great food, tasty, and we’ll go back. Only thing that spoiled it a tad was drinks that we ordered that didn’t arrive … so we left earlier than planned.

    This was possibly one of the worst dining experiences ever. Marked as a birthday for my partner on the booking but no acknowledgement of this whatsoever. Barely warm, oversalted, greasy bacon on burger, cold fries and no-one asked how our meal was. We declined to pay the ludicrous service charge and felt that the staff couldn't get us out fast enough.

    Fantastic food served quickly and amazing Moose Milk. Well worth a visit and the staff are really friendly and attentive.
