Don’s Favorite Foods is a prix-fixe restaurant created by husband and wife team Chef Don Salamone and Kate Laurents in partnership with Sommelier Adam Galbraith.
We also offer cocktails courtesy of Jeffrey Morgenthaler and Benjamin "Banjo" Amberg.

Our Italian and French-influenced menu changes monthly and highlights dishes Don grew up with as well as those he mastered though his experiences working at Michelin-starred restaurants all over the country.

From Don: At Don’s, you may find gnocchi like my Ma used to make or Italian sausage modeled after my Godfather’s, Oreste “Ernie” Capone. You might also find scallops still in their shells, Oregon pork in the style of Braciole, and popovers I learned to make from my mother-in-law, Terry, because the Laurents family makes those every Christmas morning... beef tartare, sea urchin, caviar, etc too. These things are all my favorites.

This was the best yet. The Feast of the Seven Fishes is an Italian tradition that my family always did on Christmas Eve. I still continue that tradition today at my home with Chioppino and other fish dishes. Don and Adam's take on it was supurb. Every dish was as delicious as the last. Bravissimo Don and Adam.

The entire experience was lovely from the service to the ambiance to the food. Everyone was gracious, the music was perfect and the cocktails divine. Plus there was an utter lack of pretension. A perfect evening.

Another spectacular dinner at Don's. This is why we go back month after month. High quality ingredients, thoughtfulness and stellar preparation in the dishes and a cozy atmosphere. For some this might be best as a special occasion restaurant. But if you can swing it coming monthly is the only way to go so that you can enjoy the changing menu each month!

We arrived and had to wait 30 minutes for our table outside….i understand that this is a small restaurant with no waiting area BUT I suggest the restaurant should have contacted us to let us know that they were running that late. It was not pleasant to wait outside in 45 degree weather. We had to suggest that they text us when ready since it was too cold to keep waiting outside. I know things happen that cause delays BUT the next customer should not pay the price. Make a plan to deal with delays so the restaurant is professional. That being said I would return but make a reservation for the earlier seating.

I cannot recommend this place enough! The food was outstanding. And that includes Portland restaurants. Best meal I’ve had all year. The setting and the ambience of the restaurant is warm, cute and vintage and just perfect. Don and his wife serve the food to the table with each course and tell you what to expect. It was exceptional. You won’t regret paying a visit to Don’s.

The most amazing manicotti I’ve ever had. It’s hard to walk that line of ‘there’s a lot going on here’ and ‘there’s too much going on here’; and every dish nailed it at Don’s. Every course was perfectly timed, the service was amazing. It was pretty cold inside the restaurant so I would highly recommend wearing a sweater, but the wine selections are so good they’ll warm you right up! We can’t wait to come back at the next special occasion! 🎉

One of the rare restaurants in the PDX Metto area that earns our repeat business even when life gets busy. Extraordinarily well prepared food, excellent service and a charming setting. There is easy parking because we don't have to head downtown - such a delightful bonus! We've dined here almost monthly since we found them and will continue to return. The menu is always changing, and yet everything is executed perfectly. Elevated Italian-American nostalgia in the best way. Don't miss this gem!
