Chef Donato Scotti has partnered with longtime friend Chef Gianluca Guglielmi to bring his third restaurant concept to the Bay Area.

    After decades of winemaking under the Viberti family name, Gianluca Viberti decided it was time to navigate an independent path within Barolo. In 2010 he purchased 12 hectares — mostly in Barolo proper where he now farms at the highest peaks in the municipality with elevations averaging 460m. With dedication to organic viticulture, Gianluca is a firm believer in respecting the land in the present and considering its longevity for future generations. An eccentric outdoorsman with a deep connection to nature and respect for history, Gianluca's winemaking emphasis is traditional, with long macerations, indigenous yeasts and large Slavonian barrels. Casina Bric is a translation of “farmhouse on top of a hill,” hence the name 460 Casina Bric.     Always enjoy their pasta but thought we would try their entrees. The lamb shank and the petrale soul were savory and presented well, though a bit more rich than we are accustomed to. The radicchio salad was very good and our desserts were great. Our waiter, Benjamin was really nice as was the maitre d’. A great neighborhood restaurant!

    My experience at the restaurant was disappointing. The service was unusually slow, with our server appearing overwhelmed and neglecting to check on us. As for the food, it failed to meet expectations; the flavors were bland and lacked creativity, making the dishes feel mediocre at best. Overall, I left feeling that it wasn't worth the time or money, and I wouldn’t consider returning in the future.

    I am from out of state and like to dine at this restaurant when I'm in Berkeley. The food is always tasty. We had excellent service this night. The main entrees are quite affordable but the bill goes ip quite a bit (no surprise) when you buy beverage, salad, dessert. That being said, it's a great evening out.

    We had dinner at Donato on the 7th prior to a performance at Zellerbach, so we did not have a great deal of time in the restaurant. Although we have eaten here many times (the most recent was in January) and always enjoyed our meals, this time was very different. My husband’s pasta was undercooked and bland and my beef tartare was actually cubes of beef that had been cooked. The two women sitting next to us at the bar, long time patrons, were also very unhappy with what they had ordered as well. At this point I would find it difficult to return again.

    Dropped in last minute. Host that greeted us was wonderful and accommodating. Waiter was also great. Food was excellent.

    Great neighborhood spot for drinks and a bite to eat in the early evening. Really good negroni along with a very fine radicchio salad and a plate of prosciutto. It's like going to Italy without leaving home!

    Very friedly. Food was 3xcellent. Buccatini verdi with black truffle. Pasta perfectly done, sauce was very good abd generous with the black truffles. Good selection of wines by the glass, resonably priced
