So disappointed!!! Me and my husband visited The Devonshire Arms years ago when we were staying nearby so i had suggested it to my family to celebrate my brothers birthday! We arrived at 3pm as a table of 6, we waited 15 minutes for some menus and then had to prompt to order some drinks and food. We then waited another hour and 15 minutes for a Sunday dinners to arrive, i ordered the roast beef for it to arrive looking like it had been made a week before, it was very well done, burnt and chewy. The roast potatoes had been microwaved so much they were chewy and unable to cut with a knife, the vegetables were so sad looking like they had been sat for hours. Everyone else’s meals were the same. The cost of Sunday roast was £21!! I would happily pay that for a good well good piece of meat and fresh veg. When highlighted to the waitress she did not seem too concerned and brought the manager over who turned out to have brought my meal over knowing that the beef was burnt. She was understanding however did not seem overly fussed with the food we had been served. So sad and disappointed we had to drive an hour and a half home starving, such a shame for such a lovely pub and area.

We had the Burn's night menu on Saturday night at The Devonshire Arms. The starter was very tasty but then one of the lamb main dishes was half fat, which didn't leave much edible meat on the plate. When asked for it to be changed, the waitress relayed the chef's message to say that they couldn't change the meal as it was a set menu and it would take at least half an hour. We were then told by our very pleasant waitress that the chef had said we can have 10% of our drinks which amounted to about £2 as the other round of drinks had been paid for at the bar. We have dined at the Devonshire on numerous occasions and haven't had a problem until now which is a shame as we had gone with friends to celebrate a birthday. We just feel disappointed and that the chef could have been a little more customer friendly with our request. On this occasion we also didn't feel like leaving a tip. Maybe the Wheatsheaf across the road is more customer friendly......

The food was average. It wasn’t very warm. I had high hopes. Waitresses were lovely. It certainly wasn’t with £80 for 3 of us sadly.

Service was exceptional, very friendly and nothing was too much to ask. Food took forever, over an hour for the starter , then a long wait for the main. Calamari starter definitely overcooked, but very good flavouring. Overall over priced for the quality on the day

We had a lovely evening dinner and found all aspects too notch. The food was good quality and the quiet proportions for us. We had exceptional service from Sophie who was very attentive and also knowledgable about which wine to choose. The timings between courses was also spot on. All in all a very enjoyable experience and we will return.

My husband had the pork which he really enjoyed but I had the salmon with noodles which was like eating rubber, so dry and tough. I didn't send it back as I was with friends that I had not seen for 8 years so felt uncomfortable.

It was t any fish available from The menu. The wild mushroom pie was without any greens, carrots was burnt and potatoes undercooked. Otherwise the service was fantastic !

Such a lovely pub, staff are helpful but not that attentive. Food was expensive and poor. The calamari was embarrassing, the portion size and presentation woeful. Mains were overpriced, small and looked like microwave dinners. Half an hour wait for a starter and then another 20 mins for mains. There are other pubs in the village that are probably better options.
