Izakaya Den is Denver’s popular Japanese gastropub, modeled after the lively after hours establishments found throughout Japan. The restaurant is located on South Pearl Street and is the second restaurant of the Kizaki brothers, founders and owners of Sushi Den.



The menu is arranged in a tapas style, serving traditional Japanese small plates along with dishes infused with international flavors and textures. The more traditional Japanese offerings include sashimi and nigiri, sourced from daily fish shipments from around the globe, along with dumplings and noodle dishes. The global cuisine experiments with a bevy of different flavors including unique items such as Grilled Panzanella Salad (jumbo lump crab, toasted focaccia, local goat cheese, pistachios, plum wine vinaigrette), Kobe Beef Sliders (seared foie gras, pomme frittes). A gluten-free menu is also available along with a popular weekday happy hour from 5 to 6:30 pm.

                                                    Possibly the best seafood I’ve ever had in Denver. Best dish we had was their sushi dinner, came w a roll and sashimi and it was perfectly brushed with wasabi. Amazing. Tempura was great too! Delicious desserts, very soft udon noodles, and very tasty truffle potatoes too. Wish it was quieter, but we did go on a Saturday night. Regardless, this place lived up to its hype with their food and ambiance. Great bar too, drinks are strong!

                                                    Great food. Great ambience. I could do without the 20 minute menu description by the server. Frankly, I don’t care who the owner or his brothers are or that they buy sushi fish the exact same way every other Japanese restaurant does.

                                                    Absolutely fabulous! Every time we visit Izakaya Den we discover a new, unbelievable speciality fish, thanks to our knowledgeable waitstaff. Our latest trip we were introduced to Aburi Hotate and Zuke Ocean Trout. These are definitely a must if they are available. We’d also suggest 2 fan favorites: Short Ribs and Spicy Crispy Tuna. A wonderful place to celebrate and enjoy great company.

                                                    Been coming here since 2012. Sitting at sushi bar at Izakaya Den really gives you a complete and superb experience! The chefs were amazing, every piece of fish was delightful and fresh! Thank you for a fabulous meal!

                                                    Top tier service and food! Timing for everything was perfect! The food was phenomenal! We got the tuna and toro sashimi was perfection! We also had their catch of the day king mackerel and ruder fish. Ruder fish was very mild and sweet. The white dragon roll was top notch. The Den sake flight was amazing too. Three quality sakes and the sake expert was super knowledgeable about the process of each of them. We ended the meal with the chocolate mouse cake. Recommend going for it! Best sushi and sake experience I have ever had!

                                                    Dined on Valentines weekend and it appears the restaurant was not able to handle the number of guests, as food took an extremely long time and was not as fresh as the other times we dined. Overall, an extremely disappointing visit.
