COMMUNION is a place where you feel seen. A place that feels like comfort, rest, relief, and peace. Our mission is to provide the food, the familiarity, and the intimacy that make you feel at home.

Chef Kristi Brown has spooned her way through the culinary industry for the past 28 years. Starting at a small café in downtown Seattle, Kristi has done just about everything from dishwasher/prep cook to running her own catering business for nearly a decade. From the beginning, her vision was to focus on the art and experience of food through culinary activism. A purpose powered by her mantra, “Everybody’s Gotta Eat!” Chef Kristi desires to build community through the cultivation of fresh food and fine cooking.

The pork neck stew is non-negotiable, alongside creative dishes such as "hood sushi," or cornmeal-crusted catfish rolled with pickled veggies and remoulade. That plus the welcoming vibes in the industrial chic space set in the city's historic Black district have made Communion one of the country's best new restaurants in recent years.

    I don’t know where to start! This place is amazing!The service is excellent, attentive but not hovering. They have cars and board games to keep you busy. The food is excellent. The macaroni and cheese…hate to say but yes it’s better than grandma’s! The chicken is flavorful and fried to perfection. Thank me later about the dinner roll and crab butter, as well as the deviled eggs. The cocktails are on point and generous!

    I had heard such great things about this place, and to be honest, I was not impressed. The place is so loud I could barely hear my partner's voice. the mussels and clams were probably the only thing that was great. drink selection was ok. The pork chop was to dry and had no flavor. We felt like we were being rushed out by being brought the check before we were even asked if we wanted anything else like coffee or how our dessert was. Which the the dessert was horrble. I will not be going back.

    The food was AMAZING. Get the Hoecakes! They’re damn near a religious experience! Everything was absolutely delicious, perfectly prepared and reminded us of the people that loved us with food! Thank you!!! Also Asia was a great server and every single person we came in contact with was enthusiastic and friendly! We will be back!!!!

    Great service! The pacing of our meal was absolutely perfect. The smoked salmon deviled eggs were amazing - the smokiness of the fish paired with the creamy, paprika spiced egg yolk was immaculate. The mac n cheese was equally as impressive - tinted with a hint of ground black pepper and topped with chopped green onion for a hint of freshness. And the cheese pull!!! Wow. The RnB fritters were good, a little sweet, slightly salty. The Mushroom Tibs served with Injera! 🔥 The Mojo Chicken 🔥. Absolutely worthwhile soul food dining experience.
