Clever Koi is an Asian-inspired kitchen & craft cocktail bar with locations in Central Phoenix and historic downtown Gilbert. Once inside, patrons are warmly greeted by some of the Valley’s most knowledgeable and energetic front of house staff, that are focused and fully geared towards making your experience one of a kind, every time. At Clever Koi, guests’ senses are invoked with the sights, sounds and aromas of the open kitchen’s grill and roaring woks. They had a new menu since the last time I visited, looked pretty good overall. Had the Miso Ramen with chicken and it was very good. The banana fritter was amazing. I’m glad they kept that on the menu.

Allie was our server and she was incredible! We loved the Krazy Fries and the steamed buns are a must. We also enjoyed a few of their classic cocktails during happy hour. Clever Koi is the perfect spot for a date night or fun night out in Downtown Gilbert!

Per usual everything was fantastic!! We did try some of the newer menu items, crab & avocado ragoon and orange chicken , both were terrific!! Also has our favorite, Thai salad, a bit spicy but SO DELICIOUS!!

The staff is very friendly. That wasn’t the issue. We never got an app we ordered so that was disappointing. And while we all can size down our portions and eat less, the quantity vs price seems out of balance here. Pretty small plate (ordered the orange chicken) for $19. There was an odd handoff from one server to another and maybe that led to why we didn’t get our app, but that’s still not ideal. In finding this place (it’s off the beaten path) we also found the InKind app and a discount offer for Clever Koi. So that was impetus to give it a go. But that is also very clunky process wise. You need a check number from the bill and the way Clever Koi prints their check numbers you can’t translate that with the Inkind app. So it takes some creativity to get the discount. I think intentions are good at this restaurant but prices for what ya get feel steep. Rising food costs everywhere. I get it. But feels about 20% high I would say. With a discount offer I still would say give it a try .

Many years going and now they changed the menu, the perfect ramen before, they took out the half of the ingredients, almost nothing of broth, and smaller bowl now, it was the best place to eat, now is disappointed, it’s “ ok “ but no the best anymore

Service was slow with long gaps in between visits to table. It took 25 mins to get food this evening. It was our first time coming there. Kind of disappointed. Non alcoholic cocktail was all ice and only 1/2 full with drink itself. I ordered the orange chicken. Overly sauced and too sweet. I’m not sure I would come back unless service was better.( the place only had 5 tables occupied inside of restaurant)

We have been here for date night on several occasions. Each time we try something different. Everything that we have tried on the menu is good. Service is good. It’s a great location to hang out before and after.

One of our favorite spots. Server made us feel so rushed. We were in and out in 45 minutes. Food came out quick and a little on the cold side. Tells me the food wasn't fresh.
