   Went to Chops Halifax last night to celebrate our 55th anniversary. There were more customers there than we normally encounter. Friday evening and a lacrosse game at the areana. Were greeted immediately and were escorted to our table. Our waitress looked after our requests. Things are going well at this point. We both had appetizers and then our main arrived. Mine was as requested but, my wife’s burger was not cooked. The waitress sent the manager over. He apologized and said he would replace it and remove it from our bill. This solution was handled as it should be. The replacement burger meal was served. However, this caused a lapse in the eating experience of our anniversary. From my point of view of view, a chef/cook of a restaurant of this calibre should never have sent out an undercooked burger. That is what thermometer’s are for. Lapse of professionalism

   Food and service was great. Unfortunately there was a large group sitting by us who were extremely loud and we could not hear ourselves when talking to each other

   This was my second time at Chop for Dine Around 2025. Such great food and good value. Heading back there again with friends who have never tried it on Friday!

   Would not recommend. Our server was very friendly but not attentive. We ordered the community bread as an appetizer - checked with the server where it was and were told it’s coming. Arrived with our entrees. The food was lukewarm at best and one member of our party had a well done steak but had requested medium well. The server did not come check to see how our food was after the first few bites so there’s wasn’t an opportunity to try and have the problem corrected. Another member of our party had their steak cooked as requested but it was dry. At that price point this was not expected. My steak was slightly undercooked but enjoyable except for the temperature. Luke warm to cool was the overall temperature of my meal. I ordered steak, loaded mashed potatoes, crab Oscar, sautéed mushrooms and steamed broccolini. My meal was approximatly $80 and I have no problem spending that much or more on a meal if the food is good. Forgot to mention I also ordered the pineapple upside down cake for dessert. The cake was dry and lacked pineapple. Extremely disappointed and even though we’ll stay at Sutton Place again we’ll never spend another dime at Chop. Overall, our party agreed on 2 out of 5 stars and that was being generous. Save your money and go elsewhere where your food and service will be worth the price point.

   We loved our experience at Chop! They made us feel very welcomed, and helped us celebrate my sisters birthday. Our server was very attentive and the atmosphere was lovely. The manager also stopped in to personally welcome us as it was our first time (and a birthday) which was just so sweet. Our food was amazing and we really enjoyed everything. We will absolutely be back!

   The server was not aware of a special that was mentioned when we sat down. We were also not offered the dine around menu and had to ask for the menu. After ordering the dine around special of prime rib, we were told approximately half an hour later that they ran out. We were offered to pick any other steak on the menu and then had to wait again for our dinner. Although the food was excellent, the experience was sub par and our first visit will most likely be our last.

   We had a wonderful experience at Chop. We were celebrating my partners birthday and they gave him a birthday card with a complimentary appetizer. Our server Jonah was great! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
