Located in a quiet corner across the street from the beach in beautiful Vero Beach, Florida, Chez Frenchie's restaurant offers a wide variety of prime meats from Creekstone Farm in Kansas, as well as fresh local seafood, all prepared the way you would find it on the French Riviera. Chef Jean "Frenchie" was born in Paris and lived more than 25 years in the south of France in such cities as Nice, Cannes and Monaco, where he learned the culinary art of French cuisine. A chef and restaurant operator in Florida for more than 35 years, most recently as the operator of Di Mare for over twelve years along with his wife Edyta, Chef Frenchie has assembled a staff dedicated to making your visit an exceptional — and relaxing — dining experience, serving dishes like you would find in his hometown, Nice.

My Mom had gone a few times with friends and fell in love. She and I now went when I was in town, and I must say this is a 5-star, quaint, a gold nugget away from the hustle and bustle of the beachside of Vero. The owners are interactive, making sure all are attended to. Coming from someone who has many restaurants in my local hometown of Miami, that says a lot. The owner even helped me with my mom who is in a wheel chair out to the car. I will be going back soon and if I lived in Vero, I would go once a week.

First time at the restaurant. Italian/French cuisine. Portions small, up charge for eliminating starch and doubling veggies which weren’t informed about. Double veggies were 3 carrots and 3 string beans for a $3 up charge. Bills written by hand. Math was off. Could have been an honest mistake but I’m always leery of hand written dinner tabs. Learned my lesson in the Bahamas. Notorious for padding bills every restaurant we dined in. Not sure we’d go back to Chef Frenchie’s. Liked the menu and the food was tasty but not at those prices and portions.

When our party of 3 arrived, no one else was on the patio where we were seated. Before we we received water a table was seated right next to us. This is poor from from a seating perspective. Space the guests out- especially since there were different waiters for those tables. I had the duck a l'orange. It was ok. The orange glaze was too sweet and thick. The whipped potatoes were very bland. No fat or salt in them. The veg was 3 sticks of carrot and one 1 inch piece of broccoli. My dining companions had the veal au citron. Aesthetically, all the dishes are uninspired. The desserts were disappointing. The peanut butter cake pie looked like a layered chocolate mouse with a couple peanuts on top. The bread pudding was a cake with a layer of berries in the center. There was no evidence of bread in the bread pudding and there was no sauce. The overhead lighting on the patio is a bare bulb with a pull cord. Which exudes the charm of a surgical suite. We asked for it to be turned off. No one bothered to turn the battery operated table lanterns on so we turned our own on. The propane patio heaters were on and the room was a good temperature.

Our experience was negatively impacted by the service. For example 20 minutes to get a glass of wine. A forgetful server or bartender? No reason given. The main restaurant only had 6 tables when this happened. Our server seemed to be running around like crazy. We couldn’t figure out why. It took awhile to get his attention to get the check. This is not our first time at Frenchie’s but it will be awhile before we return.

One of the most pleasant meals we have had in Vero! Excellent food, great service. Not crowded orloud like many lesser Vero restaurants. The atmosphere is a little plain, but truly a great place.
