   Proud to say that Redondo Beach is the ninth Chart House (including those that no longer exist) that I've dined in through the years. Redondo Beach typifies the great Chart House's that I've been to in the past in terms of great food, service and atmosphere. Great place for Prime Rib!l

   Was on time for reservation and there was a 45 minute wait. The tables were not cleared in the bar area so people could not use. When we got one the service was terrible. Why book so many reservations when Chart House obviously cannot handle them?

   We have eaten at Chart House many times but this time it was Christmas dinner. WOW for the STAFF!!! This place was incredibly busy for hours and the staff couldn’t have been more lovely. They worked so hard, were very efficient, timely and smiling besides. They all deserve something special!

   Our server was slow and not the best. Luckily the server next table over, remembered us from our last visit and he was very attentive, professional and friendly without us asking for anything. Food was overpriced for the stingy and bland portions that were served. Bathroom needed serious upkeep and restocking of everything. Luckily we went before rush hour because I could only imagine everything being worse.

   Clearly, the food was cooked in advance — Having dined at Chart House for over 20 years, I'm quite familiar with the menu, and if the food wasn’t good, I wouldn’t keep returning. However, on Christmas things were a little different — The salad was excellent but the coconut shrimp came out luke warm and we had to send it back. My main dish Sea Bass was luke warm as well. Typically, the lava cake is made to order, taking about 40 minutes, and is served hot enough to melt the ice cream. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case this time—the lava cake was cold, and the ice cream wasn’t melting. When we checked inside the cake, it was also cold, so we had to send it back. It took less than five minutes for them to bring us a hot one, suggesting the cakes had been prepared in advance, resulting in a texture that wasn’t fresh or moist. My aunt Vivian used to say, “If there’s no steam coming off that food, it’s not hot,” and unfortunately, there was no steam from anything I was served. The best part of the meal was (1) being there with my family, (2) the spectacular view (3) we didn’t have to cook or clean up afterwards (: (4) our MASTER SERVER Mike did an incredible job, great attitude — 5 STAR SERVER - WHITE-GLOVE SERVICE especially for the number of people that he had to serve. I never felt like we were neglected, but I was not impressed with the quality of the food — it was not the high standard that I have come to know over my 20 years of patronage to the Chart House. But i would still try it again for Christmas. I would just ask that you (1) PLEASE DO NOT COOK THE LAVA CAKE IN ADVANCE IT DOESN’T TASTE THE SAME and (2) IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU WOULD ADD A CHICKEN DISH TO MENU!

   This was Christmas Day so we were expecting a holiday menu. $80 each for a starter, entree & dessert. We also ordered a lobster tail on top of the entree for an extra $25each. The good news: the lobster bisque, bread, mashed potatoes and lobster tail were delicious. The bad news: I ordered my prime rib medium rare & my husband ordered his filet medium rare. My prime rib was way over coming out at medium to medium well. It was also tough . My husband’s filet was rare. We did not send it back because we were hungry & they were very busy. The desserts were also just okay. I would go back but felt it was not perfect due to them being so booked up and probably understaffed.

   Excellent food, great view and ambiance. The menus show some quote about how the customers are extremely important. That was not our experience. We’re a quiet elder couple, not rowdy or demanding, but the way we were ignored or talked down to ruined our experience. Staffers need better training. We had to wave down other servers after trying to get our server’s attention for more than 15 minutes. She walked past us 4-5 times with not even a glance our way. We were laughing about it at first, but then it got ridiculous. Other interactions with other staffers ranged from okay to unpleasant and even snippy. Spent $280 and mostly enjoyed our meal - but we walked away wishing we’d gone elsewhere. Plenty of competitors have similar food quality, but train their staffers to treat customers with basic courtesy.

   This is one of our family traditions- to have lunch there on Christmas Day. I’ve experienced adjustments to the menu which work but quality is beginning to slip a bit. Salmon was a tad oily but otherwise favorable. The closest description is the experience of being in the main dining room of a cruise ship.
