   The crab cake appetizer and Chilean sea bass was excellent. The lamb chops were new to the menu from our last visit and found that preparation to be great as well. We had a pleasant server who took a personal interest in seeing to our interests. Only hiccup was needing to wait a very long time to have our check picked up for payment, something when happens that I find very annoying, because it’s so easy to avoid. While our server had done very well near the end, she was one that really enjoys engaging in long conversations with her patrons, and why we waited a seeming record long time to have our check picked up and then brought back to finalize. Turning tables normally makes this self regulating, but it wasn’t nicely busy, so speeding up was no doubt a priority. Other than the lost 30 minutes, it was a fine dining experience, and we’ll return again soon. Next time I’ll ask for the check early….

   Food was good and ambiance is amazing but the service wasn't good. When we first sat down I asked the server for extra crackers but the bread came to us with the regular amount. Then I asked again and it took a while to get them. My friend asked for salt. It didn't come so I actually got up to find someone to ask about it getting it. I asked for more butter and had to ask again. I asked for extra sauce for my seafood pasta and it took a long time in getting there. The server didn't stop by our table enough and was slow to get what we asked for.

   For it being my first time to a Charthouse restaurant, I was very disappointed. My girlfriend and I had to repeatedly ask for refills on water. We had to ask for steak knives to eat our steak, and also had to ask for the chimichurri butter that came with my steak. In addition, I ordered my filet mignon, medium, and it came out rare. They had to take it back. Needless to say, I will not return to this ChartHouse in Dana point ever again. For the price that I paid, I would have expected better service and food.

   There were several large groups near our table - looked like convention attendees- and they got louder as the night progressed. It was difficult to hear people taking at our table of 5.

   Even though it's now part of the Landry's chain, this Chart House preserves some of the distinctive ambience that made its restaurants so appealing. Despite being understaffed the night of our dinner, service was cordial and attentive, and the kitchen on point.

   We made a reservation through Open table and we were seated on time. The waiter came over and took our drink orders almost immediately. The service was very good, we well taken care of. The food came to our table in a reasonable amount of time. The food was delicious. It was a very good dinning experience and we will be back.

    We had an early dinner at 4:15pm. Our waiter was first class. Very attentive. The food was fantastic as usual. Love this place.
