   2nd time back visiting and it was just Ok, not like the 1st visit that wowed me. Had the same thing crab claws and spinach pizza but this time tried the gumbo before the others, and it was just not the same taste. the gumbo was not meaty I did not have NO shrimp or crawfish in mines only maybe "a sausage" and very little rice. so, I definitely want be getting that again or even in a bigger size because it lacks the meat portions that is describe on the menu. also, this time the crab claws were very oily. service was great and atmosphere, but the food was not great. oh, this time I visited for dinner and the 1st time was lunch maybe it's a difference in visiting from day to night. but will come back and try the steak next. :)

   I have gone to Char several times and received excellent service but last night was the first time I had sub par service from the waitress who seemed like she did not want to be there. I never received my salad. I waited a long time and had to get the server’s attention to place my dinner order.

   Celebrating my colleague birthday was everything today, the ambience was just what we needed from work. This restaurant has never disappointed rather it’s for a quick bite, lunch or dinner. T Morgan

   Every visit at Char has been pleasant, filling and the service is always top notch. This visit was for lunch with my mom and we enjoyed the Char burger with onion rings (subbed for fries) and we also ordered the crab claws (sautéed and fried). The sautéed crab claws had a good flavor/seasoning as well as the fried claws. The sautéed had a kick, so if you are not a fan of spice, you will be fine with the fried claws. I would not order the crab claws again, they were good, but not my favorite appetizer. The restaurant has lunch specials during the week and they also have happy hour and brunch on weekends, so plenty of opportunities to visit.

   This was my 2nd in-restaurant dining experience at Char, I really enjoyed my fried green tomatoes and lamb. My bf enjoyed his gumbo and salad, but said that the seafood carbonara was not all that he hoped it would be especially the lack of flavor as well as the lack of seafood. The shrimp that are placed on top are is all the seafood you will see or taste according to my bf. From the looks of it, that must be a common opinion about that dish because the lady at the table next to us order the same dish and didn’t look like she enjoyed hers either.

   Lamb chops weren't as expected. Duck wasn't great. My date did not enjoy herself. Also, ordered gumbo, mostly sauce, hardly no rice, or shrimp nor sausage. For the $120 ticket this restaurant should be closed.

   The dining experience at Char - Memphis is wonderful. It's a very peaceful and cordial atmosphere. The restaurant is very clean and prompt service. My family and I are always pleased with the exceptional menu and very delicious dishes.

   During my visit, I raised an issue with the taste of the crabcakes. The server quickly communicated the manager would come over. Randy Black I assume was the manager on duty came over to the table. I communicated my crabcakes tasted fishy and he responded, "Well, it is fish. Typically, we don't take back any food unless it wasn't prepared correctly, but I guess I can take it back." The snarky and dismissive comment was unnecessary. At no point, did Randy offer an apology or ask if I wanted something else from the menu but just walked away with the plate, unacceptable. The crabcakes served, unfortunately did not meet the high standards I expected from a "fine dining" establishment especially when we spent over $100 per person. I was disappointed to find that my concerns were dismissed by the manager and his response not only left me feeling undervalued as a customer but also raised questions about the commitment to customer satisfaction at the establishment.
