   This was our Valentine's Day meal at Catch 31. The service was impeccable. Our waiter had the right amount of timing and attention to detail. He also gave great recommendations for our evening affair. We had a cozy intimate table for two in the back corner with a wonderful view of the beach and ocean. Perfect for Valentine's Day. The ambiance reminded me of très chic clubs in old 1930s movies. We started with a half-pound of peel-n-eat shrimp from the Raw Bar. Nine big plump fresh shrimp covered in Old Bay, served with cocktail sauce and lemon. Wonderful. My wife had the Catch 31 Crab Cakes, two big lump cakes with just enough binder to hold them together, they were delicious. Her crab came served over cubed roasted sweet potatoes and roasted halved honey glazed Brussels sprouts. This entree is a winner. I decided on the seared pork loin cooked medium. The loin had a nice grilled bark on it. The tarragon mustard cream sauce over the top was delicious. Unfortunately, my pork was overcooked. My arm and steak knife sawed our way through the meat. The pork loin was served on a bed of whipped mashed potatoes and grilled broccolini that were both delightful. Another surprise for us both was no she crab soup nor shrimp or oyster entrees on the menu. Standard bill of fare in most Virginia Beach seafood restaurants. Overall, a wonderful experience.

   I was expecting a more romantic atmosphere while enjoying Valentines Day with my fiancé, but was I experienced was far from that. We were initially seated in a back room far away from the terrible entertainment, but something was better than nothing!! Thankfully the hostess move us into the main dining and we were able to hear something. My fiancé ordered a ribeye steak and was informed they ran out earlier in the day so she accepted a substitute which turned out to be the wrong choice - very tough sirloin!! Also, my orange crush turned out to be the best “orange juice” I ever drank!! Horrible experience!! Never again for any special holidays or events!!!

   We had a perfect Valentine's day at Catch 31! Excellent filet Oscar, brick chicken, and decadent desserts! Service was friendly and professional - it was a busy night but the staff at Catch 31 outdid themselves!

   Food was good last but it’s been better in the past. Our server was Alanna so service was excellent as it always is when she takes care of us.

   Ordered the yummy calamari and oysters Rockefeller for appetizer and just the right portion for sharing for 2 people. The calamari was perfectly breaded and crunchy. Oysters were just as good. Ordered the crab cakes and scallop entrees which were so delicious. The two crab cakes were large portions and we were able to share that. Scallops were flavorful and tender. Service and ambiance was nice. So glad we were in the back room because it was louder in the front section. Wish the tables to other couples weren’t so close because we could hear their conversations. All in all… a great place to have wonderful seafood! A perfect valentines dinner to remember!!!

   Went to Catch 31 with my wife for Valentines Day dinner. Had low expectations knowing how busy restaurants can be on special occasions. They greatly exceeded our expectations. We were seated right away, our waiter Phillip was outstanding. Very friendly and just the right amount of attention. Valentines special menu was just not to our taste. No “serf and turf” ? smoked lobster tail? We ordered off the regular menu. We both had the fresh Rock fish. It was outstanding. cooked perfectly. The side of Gouda Mac and cheese was a nice treat. Nice to see one of our favorite Chardonnays on the single glass list.  Sonoma Cutrer Chardonnay. Our dessert was chocolate lava cake. Very good. Overall a most enjoyable evening!

   The music was tasteful but loud. It’s hard to carry on any meaningful conversation. The steaks were good only slightly over cooked (for example an ordered med-rare comes medium, medium comes well done). The octopus was tasty but slightly overcooked (rubbery). The King crab was way overcooked and dry even unfortunately with no butter sauce that’s traditionally served. The drink menu is exceptional and worth every penny. Our server was excellent and had a great sense of humor we all enjoyed her enthusiasm. Over all a good place to eat. The food was well seasoned but over cooking is a sign that there’s not enough staff in the kitchen on a busy night like Valentine’s Day. It’s probably better on the average day.

   The food was well prepared and came out in a reasonable time. The waitress was pleasant and took our order well. The manager came by a few times, and the experience was very pleasant. Nice Valentines Day lunch!

   The standout dish of the meal was the fish and chips, which was exceptionally delectable. In contrast, the clam chowder was significantly less appealing, as it contained an excessive amount of bacon that overshadowed the clam flavor.
