   We frequently dine at Cascade because we live in Pescadero. Through the years it’s been varied experience… great to poor. New Year’s we have never expected the best experience because most restaurants are slammed and don’t have enough staff. The wait staff was good and the first and second courses were good. When our entrees were served the lamb was delicious. The salmon entrees were awful ! I’ve had salmon at Cascade many times, prepared in several different ways. It’s always been my go to dinner there. Well, this time it was the strangest entree ever. There were very small little overdone pieces laid on a thick hollandaise sauce. It actually looked like pieces that were leftovers that they just threw some sauce on. They were very well done to the point of being inedible. I never send things back, but because this was so unappealing and overdone I asked for it to be redone. There were two of us that had the exact same thing and both entrées were exactly the same. They were horrible. We asked the waitress to please fix it. Which she did. But when it came back, the salmon was in a Roulette and totally raw in the middle and cold. We didn’t say anything and got a to go box, heated it up the next day in the microwave and 5 minutes later it was fairly good and not raw. We also ordered cocktails and the first round was delicious. My lemon drop was superb. My friend tasted it and on the second order she ordered the same. She took a sip and the expression on her face said it all… I tasted mine and decided to take them up to the bar and have the bartender taste it with a straw. He looked at me and agreed something had been left out. They were sour, bitter and not drinkable. I asked if he could put them back in the shaker and add the other ingredients. He did and they turned out delicious. I realize that New Year’s is a hard night to have every thing go right but they should have been better prepared and someone checking quality of the plates before they left the kitchen.

   Delicious food. The four of us ordered different things and we all really liked the dishes. The beef stew was great. We ended the meal sharing a lava cake which was also very good. Overall a great experience.

   Our experience at The Cascade Restaurant was totally outstanding, from the moment the reservation was made, to the Costanoa entrance, the warm greeting, the seating, cocktail suggestions, menu review and then the food, which was stunning fabulous, this restaurant deserves high praise. There was a bit of time between our appetizer and main course but the comfort of the surroundings made for extended conversation, magnifying the joy and beauty of spending time on the rural coast of California. Each entre was presented beautifully, the food temperature, seasoning and taste was beyond good. While enjoying the incrediably wonderful dining experience, our observations of the serving and bartending staff showed refreshing professionalism. What a great place for a great meal.

   The food was delicious. Highly recommend the food everything is good. I enjoyed the local coffee in the rooms. Nice touch

   The wait staff was young and inexperienced. Clearly, they need some guidance from someone who has worked in the service industry before.

   We enjoyed a laid-back lunch with no rush to vacate the restaurant. The food was acceptable, but the coffee was quite bad. The ambiance was nice, and the wait staff were welcoming.

   Beware if you end up eating on the balcony high level, you will be somewhat neglected by the servers as its harder for them to get up there. Overall our food was good and pricing was reasonable.

    Very fresh ingredients and soulful preparations. We had dinner (salad, pot roast, polenta and mushrooms) as well as breakfast (great patatas bravas, perfectly cooked eggs) and all were delicious. Very ample portions. We came away with great leftovers to enjoy again.
