                                                                                    Generally disappointed. Food was OK, but not worth the high price. More expensive than last time here. Menu was also simplified. It seemed like there were a lot more choices in the past. We were seated in The Club Room, which had live entertainment. They waived the $10 cover charge, but it was too loud and difficult to have table conversations. Only beef choices were Hanger Steak and Short Ribs. Creative menu writing had Potato Fondue accompanying the Hanger Steak. Sounded intriguing, but it was mashed potatoes. No bread served. It was an extra cost. Waitress didn’t recognize my wine choice, even though it was a popular Piedmont Red. Signature Budino dessert was outstanding. I would be less critical had it not been so expensive-well over $100 pp.

We have been patrons for 20 years and what was once a great dining experience has become an overpriced, overhyped venture out. Food is average at best and over spiced. Our service last night was poor and inattentive. We keep hoping for a revival to what this restaurant once was but it doesn’t seem to be happening. There are much better options for dining out in Naples.

                                                                                    Campiello is a fantastic restaurant. The food is wonderful and service is fantastic. It is a highlight of our time in Naples. The only thing keeping it from 5 star greatness is an oddity that occurred tonight. We made a reservation in October for an inside table, as weather can sometimes be cool this time of year. We arrived and were taken to the “club room”. Let me say we didn’t ask for it and weren’t asked about it. The room is a delight and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Quieter and more laid back than the main restaurant. Our reservation was at 6 but we were still eating at 7 when some great music started. All was great until we received the bill and found a $10 per head cover charge that NOBODY talked to us about. It’s not the money, but the audacity of hustling guests into a surcharge they didn’t ask for, know about or consent to. Did it ruin the night? No. But it left a bad taste after a delightful meal.
