A French-Japanese bistro in the Arts District of Downtown Los Angeles.

Reservations are always recommended, but we are often able to accommodate walk-ins as well.

While we love dogs, we can only accept trained service animals (not emotional support animals) both in our dining room as well as on our outdoor patio. We appreciate your understanding.

Yuck!! This place is so pretentious and the food was downright gross. Very rich with overwhelming flavors that just were not good at all. Service was humorless, serious and pretentious. A skip

Overall, we enjoyed our dinner at Camelia. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. As it was a chilly night, we requested an indoor table which became available soon after arrival. We ordered several dishes to share which is their style of service. The server gently implied that we may not have ordered enough. When the first dish arrived we realized that the serving sizes were quite small so we did order another dish. I have to say that iIve seen menus featuring beef from Flannery Farms. It is always expensive. We ordred the NY Strip from Flannery Farms. It was mostly inedible due to a lot of gristle all the way through the steak. We were asked if we wanted to box up the remaining meat but told the server that it was all waste and we were not interested in taking it. Server said they would report that to the chef, which I assume she did but we still paid the $80 for it.

I love this restaurant but they have made us wait to be seated (not honoring our reservation start time) both times we visited (they obviously need to extend the table turn time in opentable by at least 15 minutes) and I feel that the price of main-courses are a bit exorbitant in terms of what is on the plate. in terms of realistic menu pricing -- Duck Frites is $10 fries plus $15 carrots plus $35 duck breast ($60 total) but they charge $70 which feels unfair. Similarly, Scallops is $15 for mushrooms and $30 for scallops ($45 total) but they charge $55 which feels unfair. We've ordered more than a dozen dishes in our two visits (thus far) but would have ordered a couple more each visit if it didn't feel like breaking the bank. Otherwise, only one complaint about the cooking, our Loup de Mer (the meat itself) was dry and chewy (but the dish as a whole was gorgeous) but we couldn't get a replacement because the kitchen had already closed yet of course we were expected to pay for the dish anyway...

OUR EXPERIENCE: After a 40 minute wait, even with a previous reservation, our waiter tried hard but he had too many tables to give us proper service commensurate with the price and reputation of a fine dining establishment. Overall , the food was good and original, and it’s a worthwhile dining experience. SUGGESTIONS: Management needs to handle the reservations much better, and make the long wait a bit more pleasant. Offering a glass of a sparkling wine on the house would be nice! They also need to have more servers, so the wine does not come after the food, which is totally inexcusable.

we were not seated until 30 minutes after our reservation, neither were most people, I understand there are hiccups, but they didn’t even apologize or feel badly about it or care. They didn’t offer if we wanted to get a drink at the bar they told us to go wait on the sidewalk . For an establishment of that price, that’s absurd. and then after watching us stand outside for 30 minutes when we sat down at our table, no one came to us for five minutes and then i had to get someone’s attention because i needed water so badly after the standing and it was like ?

Food was amazing. The special highlight of the night is the mochi dessert. If it’s not the best it’s definitely top 3 best dessert in LA

Super interesting menu. Great service. Didn't love sitting outside with all the weed smell but I'll be back.

A delicious new addition to the Arts District dining scene. Delicious and interesting preparations, attentive service, a fantastic cocktail program and excellent wine/sake list. Well worth a visit.
