About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Hot spot
  • Lively
Callie represents Chef Travis Swikard's debut solo project after spending a decade working alongside the esteemed Chef Daniel Boulud in New York City. The restaurant’s name, "Callie," comes from the Greek word "kallos," meaning "the most beautiful," and embodies its blend of Mediterranean cuisine with local ingredients and terroir, from sea to land from San Diego, Swikard's hometown. In 2022, Callie was acclaimed as one of America's top new restaurants by Esquire and Robb Report, and received both a Bib Gourmand and a Plate from the Michelin Guide. Callie is a dedicated supporter of Feeding San Diego, having contributed over 1 million meals to those in need in San Diego since its launch. Swikard is set to open his second restaurant in La Jolla in 2025.

From the OpenTable editors: Chef and San Diego native Travis Swikard is an alum of iconic restaurants like DANIEL, and that pedigree shines at this sophisticated Mediterranean spot named one of Esquire’s Best New Restaurants in America in 2022. Feast on plates like lemon saffron linguine or harissa-grilled lamb chops, or go all-in on a five-course family-style tasting menu. Either way, a meal in the inviting space decked with blue tiles and lush greenery feels like a lively dinner party on every visit.

Our parking garage is located in the building, but because of the one way streets downtown, the entrance is on 11th Avenue between J St and Island Ave, on the right. The parking garage has a sign '1155 Parking' over top and is through LAZ. For security purposes, the gate will be down when you pull up, you will press the kiosk for a ticket. Once you've parked, take the elevators in the center up to the lobby and be sure to get your ticket validated by a host. Validation is good up to three hours.

  • Flavors Of The Sun - Drew Deckman

    $125.00 per person

    Jun 4, 2025 only
We're turning 4! What better way to celebrate than by doing what we love most - honoring the city we love, the people who have supported us, and the cross-border flavors that inspire us daily. To mark this milestone, Chef Travis Swikard is teaming up with good friend Chef Drew Deckman of Deckman's and ThirtyOne31. A culinary pioneer who shares his passion for sourcing local, cooking with intention, and letting ingredients shine. Together, they will craft a one night only menu that pays homage to the rich bounty of San Diego and Northern Baja - from our local farmers and fisherman to the bold, sun-drenched flavors that define our region. As a thank you for 4 unforgettable years, every guest will receive the Callie pantry - a curated collection of preserved lemons, housemade hot sauces, and signature spices to bring a taste of our kitchen into yours. Additionally, for every Flavors of the Sun dinner sold, Callie will donate $5 to Feeding San Diego - providing 10 meals for San Diegans in need. Please note that only the Flavors of the Sun menu will be offered on this day; a la carte dining will not be available. Modifications & substitutions cannot be made for this menu. No-shows or cancellations less than 1 day in advance may be subject to a charge of $10 per person. Tax, 20% service charge, and 4% surcharge will be added to all checks.

The food is still incredible, but it is not the same experience it used to be. This restaurant is no longer the quality it used to be with service. They auto charge the 24% gratuity and then you never see your server.

We’ve been multiple times. Always impeccable. Inventive cuisine, perfectly prepared. Knowledgeable, gracious service. Best dining experience in San Diego. If you’re with a group, get the Mediterranean Feast to experience all this talented chef has to offer.

The service was excellent. I ordered the feast for 2, which had hummus, Japanese kanpachi, artichoke ravioli, grilled hangar steak, asparagus & feta, grilled hangar steak, and passion fruit pavlova. It was really tasty, but for 2, the portions felt too small. I wouldn’t recommend the feast for the value; instead, I will recommend getting the hummus and your choice of entree and dessert. So far, my favorite was the hummus and the passion fruit pavlova. I can’t really say anything negative about the others, but they were not my thing, but maybe someone will like them.

Absolutely tasty and delicious food. Every dish had unique flavors that we could savor and enjoy. The ambience was peaceful, calm, uplifting and relaxing. The staff went out of their way to ensure our Mother's Day celebration was the best. We will be returning to enjoy the food again.
