Café Epicure is an authentic Italian trattoria sitting on the corner of Main Street and Palm Avenue in historic downtown Sarasota, FL. It was founded in 2000 after the success of our sister restaurant, Mediterraneo. We are one of the most authentic and detailed oriented restaurants outside of Italy.

The atmosphere is casual but our quality is outstanding. Our head chef, Stefano Sasso, is a native of Ischia, an island off the Naples coast. He prepares each dish carefully using on the freshest ingredients. Everything here is made from scratch; sauces, fresh pasta, bread, desserts and gelato.

Really wonderful meal. We were craving thin crust wood fired oven pizza, and this is the best place to get it in Sarasota! The Caesar salad was also delicious, as were the desserts. Our server was extremely knowledgeable about all things Italian, substituting our chosen wine with something just as good, but less expensive, when what we chose was unavailable. Incredibly friendly and welcoming place. Only thing we forgot was to ask for a table in the more quiet half of the restaurant.

It’s been a long time since we ate at Cafe Epicure as we moved out of the state a while ago. We came back for a visit and ate there last weekend. My wife had lasagne and I had Shrimp Farfalle. Both were excellent, service was great and everything was top notch. We could not have been happier with our meal. Sitting next to us was a couple from NYC who ordered pizza; they told me that this is the best pizza in Sarasota and they were pizza snobs. Unfortunately, my wife left here wallet there by accident (left it on her chair). They kept it safe overflight and gave it to us the niece day. We were so impressed with the food, we decided to eat there again that night. Again, great meal.
