   Limited menu but what they make they do really well. I can fully recommend their guacamole and ceviche. Their mushroom taco is different and very tasty. Decor, service and food were great.

   We went to Butterfly shortly after it opened, based on our good meals at Oyamel in DC. It was excellent. Favorites were the great guacamole and chips, a citrusy ceviche, and the tacos made with house-made tortillas. But everything was good and we will be back.

   We were late to the reservation as we were befuddled by the location (it is in the shay hotel, it is recommended to valet, but if your stay is short, parking at the IVY station is better.) They were super accommodating and pleasant. We were one of 3 small groups there as it had just opened--so it was quite quiet. The seating was poolside and quite nice. We ordered 2 ceviche and 2 tacos--the server was very honest about portions, so we appreciated the fact that we weren't pushed into more food than we were ready to eat. The ceviche was DELICIOUS! (fyi, you do need to order chips, otherwise you will eat your ceviche with a spoon) Both of us really enjoyed it and, for the amount we got, very reasonable. The tacos were just ok. The carnitas was something that I do as well at home, the fish was quite tasty, but unexciting. On the other hand, the chocoflan was astounding. Great texture with a coffee sauce that balanced bitter and sweet. Overall, would definitely go back.

   Jose Andres never dissapoints with his delicious margaritas, tacos, incredibly good chilaquiles and an upside down flan cake. And the location is beautiful, rooftop pool deck, appropriate 70ish decor, and the service always top notch. Look forward to returning again.

   Very disappointed as a long time DC resident and Jose Andres fan. Food and service is good, but portion size is insanely small. The queso appetizer was enough cheese for 3-4 chips. Go here for an expensive poolside cocktail during the summer but nothing more.

    The dining space at Butterfly is lovely - bold colors, tropical wallpaper, stylish seating, beautiful and well-stocked bar, windows and sliding doors to pool area with great views. Service was warm and friendly, one goof on one dish by chefs learning the recipes was fixed right away. Food was excellent - tasty flavors, nice presentation. Avocado and goat cheese salad with salsa verde - Yum! two kinds of tacos - Yum! We would have preferred music to be a touch less intrusive so we could have a conversation without raising our voices. Other than that...We will happily return!
