   This place is beautiful inside. Great for photo ops. However.. they do not allow you to use your camera light inside which was kinda annoying and the pricing of the food was a bit over compared to the size of the portions. Nonetheless, I would definitely go back!

   Waited 20 mins to be seated because the hostess forgot we were waiting. Was disappointed that we were seated outside when we had requested and been assured we would be in the main room. It was incredibly noisy with the el going by every 20 mins.

   Waitress was unprofessional and not very present. I’ve never seen a waitress use her hands so much to talk with guests. Super annoying. Very expressive. Wine service was very slow. They poured the white wine and put it in a chiller across the room, but never came back to refill our glasses. We had to track the staff down and ask them. Most notably the steaks were simply awful. I will say that the meat quality seemed good, but they simply do not know how to cook a steak - particularly at a very high price point. The first attempt at my medium-rare filet, came to the table almost burnt - well done with no juice at all. They acknowledged the mistake and I sent it back - this also happened to another of us at the table who had a NY sirloin. The second filet that came back to me was charred on the outside, but absolutely cold and bloody on the inside - very rare. It was obvious that they cooked the steak for a short period of time under very high heat and didn’t pay attention to cooking/heating the middle. At this point, most of the other guests at the table have already completed their meal, so I only ate the edges of my fillet and left the bloody raw middle on the middle of the plate. There were many other problems such as telling us we would have “incredible” bread service shortly and after 25 minutes we still didn’t have bread. The staff was inattentive - so much so, that at one point I spoke privately with our waitress and explained the poor service. She acknowledged it, apologize and said she would step it up. She didn’t nor did anyone else at the restaurant. Also note, the restaurant was not busy at all. We sat in the atrium and the tables were half full.

   Service is wonderful and friendly. Great ambiance. The food is just very plain. Fries were not made in house. The beef tartare is the best item on the menu. All the other food items were just very mid. Escargot had too much lemon. Very expensive. You’re paying for the aesthetic.

   Fun atmosphere. Exceptional food. A little noisy with the Lake Street L overhead, but that also makes it quintessential Chicago.

   Blvd Restaurant offers an upscale dining experience with a focus on ambiance, exceptional service, and a menu that blends creativity with classic flavors. It’s a great spot for special occasions, but my recent visit left me with mixed feelings due to a mismatch between expectations and experience. The primary allure of Blvd is the elegant main dining room, with its stunning chandelier views that create a refined atmosphere. When booking our reservation, I explicitly noted that we were celebrating a birthday and hoped to be seated in the main room to enhance the occasion. Unfortunately, we were seated on the patio instead, which felt like a significant departure from the celebratory tone we had anticipated. While the patio area is pleasant, it lacked the intimate and festive ambiance we had hoped for, making the birthday dinner feel less special than it should have. That being said, the service at Blvd was impeccable. Our server was attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming, ensuring that our meal went smoothly despite the initial disappointment. The food was also up to the restaurant’s high standards—flavorful, beautifully presented, and expertly prepared. In conclusion, Blvd is undeniably a great choice for a memorable dinner, but if you’re celebrating something important, it’s crucial to ensure your reservation preferences are clearly communicated and followed. A more thoughtful seating arrangement would have significantly elevated the experience. Despite the seating misstep, the stellar service and excellent food still make it worth visiting—just make sure to emphasize your seating preferences when booking to avoid any surprises.

   The ambiance was perfect. We went for a birthday and it was made personal to that event. Spot on. The food was mediocre at best. The steak was good, a little undercooked. The mashed potatoes are whipped almost the consistency of sour cream or pudding. The Mac and cheese was really saucy, nothing too special about it. Also very upsetting that they did not have the option to add anything to it. The drinks were very strong, the tequila was really all that I tasted in the lavender lemon drop. The bread was spongy. Overall I would not give it another chance. Hopefully someone else has a better experience

   With so many steak houses in Chicago, they weren’t on their game. Messed up orders and a lot of raw steak. For the money, I would give it a pass and go to Bavettes. The servers tip was included which was good for him bc he was MIA.
