About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Charming
  • Lively
One of Houston’s original restaurants, Birraporetti’s opened in 1974 with the slogan “A great Italian Restaurant…A heck of an Irish bar.” For almost 40 years, Birraporetti’s has been the place to gather on a date, celebrating with friends and family, for happy hour or before or after the theater.
We are noted for our award-winning stone oven pizzas, pastas such as lobster ravioli, & delicious main courses including hand-carved beef filet & fresh seafood. And don't leave without trying our signature Frozen Bellini’s, Irish Coffee, chocolate chip cheesecake, tiramisu, or the berries & cream.
Located in the heart of the Theater District. Steps away from the Alley Theater, Jones Hall, Hobby Center, Wortham, Houston Ballet, Bayou Music Center, Sundance Cinema & a few blocks from Toyota Center and Minute Maid Park.
Open late seven days a week. Join us for Sunday live Jazz Brunch Buffet, Live Music Mondays, or to enjoy our lunch menu for downtown business clients.

My wife and I dine at Birraporetti's regularly. On Sunday they offer a buffet option, along with the regular menu. I opted for the menu on our recent visit, and my wife went with the buffet. It took over 30 minutes for my salad to arrive, then our waiter brought the wrong entre, and he repeatedly failed to attend to my requests for a solution to the poor service. While the quality of the food was satisfactory, the service was not. My wife also noted that the higher priced buffet had less quantities of food for patrons to select. Overall, our frequently-visited restaurant was a disappointment this time.

Service was slow to begin. We sat for several minutes before anyone came to our table. Finally, someone showed with 1 glass of water for a table for two. Once the service began, it was timely. The stuffed mushroom caps were very good. Salad was ok. The fettuccine Alfred was dry, not enough sauce. The veal piccata was not tender and very chewy. My partner said the grilled pork chops was good. Best part of the meal was the crème brûlée. Absolutely scrumptious.

Excellent dinner after the Ballet. Our server Paco had great recommendations for both wine and dinner.

Salmon cooked perfectly, nice crust on eggplant parmigiana. Waiter came to our table twice with food for someone else.

Very welcoming. Food is always good. Great before symphony, ballet, opera and Alley Theater. Live music after weekend show.

Service was friendly, but extremely slow despite not being crowded. We were already an hour in and they still hadn’t brought out dessert. We asked for the check, deciding to forfeit the dessert. Instead of promptly taking our payment, the server took the card and disappeared another 10 minutes, only to return with the dessert in hand. In addition, the food was subpar. The shrimp scampi pasta was room temp at best and lacked flavor. On my husband’s seafood trio, all three items were different temperatures. Crab cake was bland. The only food item we enjoyed on both plates was the shrimp. But it’s definitely not worth making another reservation.

We had a wonderful experience. It was just perfect before attending the ballet. Our server was kind and attentive. She never looked hurried and always smiling. The food was delicious and hit the spot. We'll definitely do this again.

Food was just okay and kind of average. Was expecting a bit more "wow" from an establishment like this. I got the Marco Polo and it was not good. Sauce was way too sweet - like dessert. My niece ordered the cheese pizza and it was super thin, not enough cheese and with soggy crust. My other niece ordered the chicken alfredo and the alfredo sauce was clumpy. Server was nice but he was busy handling several table in our area.
