   It was our first time eating here and we all thoroughly enjoyed our food. We were a party of four. We started with fried calamari and fresh east coast and west coast oysters for appetizers. One of us had the fresh BC mussels, another had the strip loin steak, another had the mixed seafood linguine, and the last had the seafood pot au feu, Although our tummies were quite full and happy, we decided to "look" at the desserts. Looking ended up ordering the shortcake cookie and lemon crème brule, which we shared. Yummy. Our server was prompt but not overbearing. We will be back.

   I googled “quiet restaurants in Calgary” and was happy Big Fish came up on a locator map and it is close to home. I have dined here before for a large family brunch, and everyone seem to really enjoy their food and the speed of the kitchen and servers for such a large table. I think this is an elegant place that knows how to pull together quality ingredients and good flavours. The atmosphere was indeed quiet with the music, non-intrusive and calm, decor and lighting . The menu features a large number of gluten-free items including difficult to find options like gluten-free desserts, and gluten-free chowder.  The decor is missing something. It’s appealing but needs elements that add personality like plants or warmer lighting. The kitchen really knows what they’re doing . Our waitress was excellent . The ingredients are high-quality . I’ve ordered Skip the dishes from here often, and the food comes out in generous portions, even delivered

   Dined with my spouse for dinner. We ordered the fresh east coast oysters and crab & artichoke dip as appetizers. The dip was very good. Having just a hint of spicy heat, the dish was rich and thick. The oysters would have been better baked. Our entrees were the baked salmon and filled with risotto. The baked salmon was very good, moist, and flavourful. The filled was ordered medium rare. It was properly cooked and tasty. The consistency of the mushroom rissoto was correct while the richness was lacking the necessary parmigiana flavour. The rest of the plated vegetables of each dish were firm and tasty. Our deserts were the pecan pie and the chocolate torte. These were each good. The pecan pie stood out as the better of the two. Our drinks were martinis to start. The espresso martini was well presented and very good. The faithful ginger was presented in layers and visually very nice. The wine we ordered was an Amarone Vallpolicella. Our server decanter the wine and was attentive to keep our glasses filled throughout the meal. We finished with 20 year old port, which is a favorite of ours, and was a fine finish to enjoy with desert. The room is casually decorated. The animal head mounts seem out of place, and a fish motif is missing. The two female greeters are attractive and were not a distraction despite their station being located within the dining room. A single she/he bathroom meant a bit of a wait was required to enter. The value of the meal was in the mid $400 range, including a reasonable tip. Maybe a wee bit high in a casual dining room, but the service and quality of the protein and alcohol justify the price to be within the acceptable range. I would dine here again.

   Happy Hour was very reasonable! Service was good and the food came fast. The waiter and waitress was excellent.

   Very nice place for a great food and service. Had a business lunch on a Friday and the place was perfect, quiet and great service. Will go here again as will my friend who had never been before.
