   We had high hopes for this restaurant but due to an unprepared server, misleading descriptions of pricing, an incorrect steak temperatures, we will not be in a rush to come back. For a couple who spent over $200 on dinner, we expected more.

   This is a Charlotte institution and I walked in feeling like I was on the set of a Quentin Tarantino movie and a great way. Come in with low expectations and forget the foo foo Lala experience of higher in steakhouse. This is a different experience one that is welcome and overly polished world of restaurants. I would definitely eat there again. The steak was incredible.

   We were so excited to dine here after all of the recommendation’s from friends. Hope to give it another try as anyone can have an off night. We were a tad early for our 8:00 reservation but were sat on time. Once sat we were not greeted for 25 minutes. There was a 7 top of younger gentleman that were sat at 8:10 and received their crackers and drink order before anyone came to acknowledge us. We did bring a bottle of wine that the server had difficulty opening as well as taking at least 10 minutes to grab wine glasses. Next issue- we do had our hearts set on some protection after reading all the reviews and recommendations. Well they were out. Come on now! We did have an order of stuffed mushrooms that were excellent. My wife decided on a MR strip and although tasty- came out more medium. My MR filet was mooing. Way under and close to Pittsburg rare. The server did attempt to re cook it however after it was already cut into and a few outside bites removed the only correct way to rescue this situation would be for them to cook another steak. The server did not wanting this so I just asked them to remove from the bill. Wife’s baked potato was good and my creamed spinach was overly salted. Lastly be mindful if you do not like your salads drenched in dressing ask them to leave the Caesar dressing on the side.

   A wonderful meal and experience. We have eaten there for years and are never disappointed. A must go if you have the opportunity.

   Excellent on all counts as usual. Chip was our server. He was pleasant and attentive without being overbearing. My husband has special needs with his order and Chip is always accommodating. I had the small filet, medium rare. Tender and juicy! Changed up the sides and ordered mushrooms and brussel sprouts - great choices. My husband had the flounder, salad and baked potato. He enjoyed each! We usually dine here about every six weeks. Can't wait to go again!

   Last independence steakhouse in Charlotte. Steak not exceptional. Very pricey $48 for 6 ounce steak that is not grass fed is even a lot in today's inflationary prices. But above that I told the waitress prior to ordering I had a gift certificate and she said no problem. Then when the bill came, I said you need to take the hundred dollars off the bill. She said we don't accept gift certificates in December. I said well let me speak to the owner and he said we don't accept in December but let me see the certificate. Even he could not see the very small print where it stated not in December so they took $100 off. I gave way too much tip for embarrassing me to that point. Plus no bread?

    I am sorry to say that this was a very disappointing experience. We have been here a couple times and brought some friends this time that have never been. My steak was cooked wrong not once but twice. It was embarrassing sending food back not once but twice. The waiter acted like he did not want to be there. Needless to say, for that kind of money we will likely go somewhere else next year.
