Bata is a restaurant designed to celebrate the best our region has to offer. We cook over a live oak fire, on our custom fabricated hearth. Our menu changes daily. We mill AZ grown grain in house, daily. We focus on whole animal butchery, done in house. We have an extensive fermentation program. Our bar program largely focuses on wines that are organic, biodynamic, and produced with minimal intervention. The cocktail list highlights the best products of the season, with a carefully curated list of spirits from across the globe. We believe that our hospitality is just as important as the food and beverages we put on the table.

We do not encourage our restaurant for young children. We do not have any highchairs in house and ask that you please bring your own if it is required.

We do not offer any outdoor seating. Private dining, kitchen counter and large party seating available. Email hello@batatucson.com for inquiries.

Great restaurant but do not recommend for vegans. They had a few vegetarian options but mostly were just salads or a mushroom dish which is not substantial for a vegetarian or vegan for any large meal. You could go for a snack.

Innovative cuisine, fresh local ingredients and nice upscale ambience. Dishes typically had interesting and surprising combinations of ingredients and tastes. . Many of the dishes just didn’t work though. Too many weird taste combinations. Chef is clearly skilled but simpler would be better. Wine list was very good.

On the menu you can request the restaurant to make a random 5 course meal. They were kind and asked if I had food allergies before starting. Everything for me came out delicious and the staff did a great job explaining what was brought out to me. My server was great on checking on me and asking for feedback on the food. I had a great solo dining experience.

Unfortunately, this restaurant is suited for only persons with culinary experience or related passion for food and taste expertise. My father was visiting from out-of-state and the idea was to have a fresh well made meal by U of A…. We were very disappointed, despite efforts of good service, the food was extraordinarily expensive and didn’t satisfy our sweet nor savory taste buds… if we could do it again, we wouldn’t go and would request a full refund. Only go if your a culinary expert or a food professional of sorts

This was our first time at BATA and I’m not sure why we waited so long. It was truly one of the best culinary experiences we’ve had in quite a while. Great unexpected food and friendly service.

It was our second time dining at Bota, our first experience was a solid 5 stars. Last evening was a little disappointing as one dish was cold when it should have been hot, the vegetable dish was yummy especially the sauce but impossible to cut the watermelon radish. Our server was great but seemed to have many tables to attend too. Overall, an enjoyable night but not quite the 5 stars.
