Basso by PXK offers a contemporary Italian dining experience with a deep respect for tradition. Located in the heart of Chappaqua at 11 King Street, the restaurant is now under the culinary direction of Chef Peter X. Kelly.

Inspired by his extensive travels throughout Italy, from the Michelin-starred kitchens of Milan to the rustic trattorias of Tuscany, Chef Kelly brings a modern perspective to classic Italian dishes. He emphasizes the use of fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced from local farms and artisan producers within the Hudson Valley. Brunch is unique but the food wasn't anything special. Having been to Peter Kelly's restaurants on many occasions, and having been to Basso for dinner last month (5 star review), we were excited by the prospect of trying the brunch. While dinner was excellent, brunch was not particularly noteworthy. The twelve mini-courses made for a good amount of food, although most portions were relatively small, particularly the meat courses, so you didn't feel overly full. Most notable was the Caeser salad, the risotto, and the chicken Scarpello (very spicy but my wife's portion didn't even include any chicken!). Failures included the clam, blah salmon, and the miniscule piece of steak. However, the desserts were spectacular - all five of them. Bellinis for $5 were a good buy. Will I be back? Well, one of my brunch companions gave it a 9.5, while I gave it a 6 out of 10, so we might try it again. Based upon the other reviews, it appears the menu doesn't change, which is a bit disappointing, since some of the fun is not knowing what to expect.

Basso By PXK was an excellent choice for Saturday night dining. All of our dishes were delicious; The Branzino Filet , Chatham Cod, add on for the night and Duck with Marsala Sabayon. Our desserts were well presented and tasty; Warm Bread Pudding and Tiramisu. The entire team was pleasant and accommodating. They checked in several times during our meal. The noise level was average. I would highly recommend Basso By PXK for evening dining.

We are so lucky to have this extraordinary chef in our little community. No longer do we have to drive 45 minutes to an hour to get to one of Chef Kelly's restaurants. We typically go on Tuesday evenings when it's easier to get a reservation. We try something different each time and we've never been disappointed. It's like Disney World for your taste buds. Every bite is unbelievable. Pasta, Fish, off the grill, Salads, it's like I've never eaten before. It's not just going out to dinner, it's a dining experience. Make your reservations early. I'm not the only one that's figured this out.

The last time we dined here years ago, it was called 56 Basso. When we learned that the new owner of Basso by PXK brought chef Peter Kelly on board, we just had to try it out! The restaurant decor had been updated and the ambiance of the place was an improvement. Our server was cheerful. The four of us shared the calamari appetizer. For our entrees, one had the cod fish special, another had the duckling, and two of us had the pork chop with apricot glaze. Every dish was delicious. The only disappointment was with the portion size for the duckling (for the price we expected more than what arrived on the plate). Nevertheless, we all agreed that we would be back to try other dishes from the menu. Also it was a nice touch that chef Kelly came out and spoke to the patrons at every table.

I’m so happy to have this restaurant in our town! Their Caesar salad is one of the best I’ve had in a long time and generous enough to split. My friend had a special cod on puréed potatoes which she loved and I had the linguini with clams that was perfectly balanced . An extra bonus is the renowned Chef Kelly graciously visits each table. What a gift to have him in Chappaqua.

We always enjoy our experience at Basso. We had the tuna and prosciutto appetizers and the cod and veal specials. Everything was great including the very caring and professional service. Looking forward to our next visit!

The ambiance was lovely. The food was out of this world! We sat at a table by the entryway to the kitchen and the restrooms. Not a nice sight. Despite the fact that the waiters passed by our table every time they went in and out of the kitchen, no one cleared the empty plates. after a while, I had to stop the waiter twice and ask him to take away the plates. The place is very new, and perhaps, everyone is still getting the hang of it. I will definitely go back and highly recommend this place!
