Avli in suburban Winnetka has been a Chicagoland favorite since 2009 offering guests contemporary and classic Greek small plates, mains, and desserts as well as approachable Greek wines and inventive cocktails.

    We went there for my wife’s birthday. Service, drinks and entrées were great. I had the moussaka which was one of the best I’ve ever had and my wife had the Bronzino which she said it was very flavorful. I told them ahead of time it was my wife’s birthday. They brought us what they called a “cheesecake“ with a candle in it. I believe they call it some type of Greek cheesecake. I hate to say this but it was inedible. Not good at all. We wound up ordering gelato instead which was delicious. But I was surprised when they charged us $14 for the birthday cheesecake which was never communicated to me. Don’t get me wrong, this place is really really good. But I would avoid the “birthday cheesecake” and they should’ve communicated that they were charging us $14 for it.

    Wonderful! Delicious food, great cocktails, and nice atmosphere. Only thing missing was the Skordalia - bring it back!!

    Warm service from reception to wait staff. Excellent lamb roast w potatoes. Greek chicken soup outstanding. Finally orange pound cake with cherries and pistachio gelato was a great finale along with a Greek coffee, medium sweet.

    I enjoy this version of Avli as much as I don’t like the other versions. The restaurant is nice and a pleasure to sit in. The service is good and people nice. The food is also good and the price is not bad. I would return and recommend it.

    Food was excellent. Chef Vasilios did an amazing job! The tirokafteri was delicious and the pork chops were cooked perfectly. Our server was was sweet and attentive. Great experience 😁
