Wonderful dining experience! Be for warned they accept cash but do not give change if you don’t have the exact fare. Yes it’s true as of this date 3/5/25. This seems very weird for one of the world’s premier culinary schools not able to make change when paying with cash. This doesn’t reflect the “real world” one would expect from a teaching institution. Credit cards are accepted.

My high school friends and I visit once every year for lunch on the same Saturday of the year. The restaurant is lovely and bright. The service is attentive. The menu is seasonal and has an excellent variety of options to choose from. The food is always well prepared and the presentation is impeccable.

Good news first: the chick pea chowder was excellent. The trout was delicious (albeit a bit salty ). The server was pleasant and kind. The apple streudel and chocolate mousse desserts were phenomenal. Riesling was perfect. The server was very cheerful, not over-solicitous, and knowledgeable. The ambiance is pleasant overall. Better heating during the winter would likely be appreciated by diners. And now for the disappointing. The flatware was not provided prior to soup being served resulting in less than optimal temperature to eat soup. We had to request a spoon. We’ve never been in this position before. Same with cream for coffee. When the diners request coffee, the server should ask if cream or milk will accompany. Cool coffee is not optimal. Last negative was serving of water. If a diner clearly drinks a lot of water, please keep an eye on it so that the glass is replenished without needing to hail a server. overall a B+. Hopefully our upcoming experience at Bocuse will be an A experience.

They do a very nice job of combining a nice dining experience for guests with a learning opportunity for the CIA students. The food is outstanding and the beverage selection is very solid, incorporating local and other American wines and beer. The wait time between courses seemed a little long as it was not overly crowded for lunch; but the wait staff are learning so you shouldn’t really fault them for that. All of our appetizers, entrees and desserts were very tasty and elegantly plated. The bread was also delicious.
