From the OpenTable editors: Chef Johnny Curiel grew up in Guadalajara, Mexico, and started washing dishes in his dad’s restaurant at age 14. Today, the Michelin Guide considers him the best young chef in Colorado and awarded one star to his first solo restaurant Alma Fonda Fina. In a light-filled corner space filled with warm ceramics and woven textiles, he puts out soulful and modern Mexican fare—think seared hamachi aguachile, lamb shank birria, and tacos folded with a 12-hour brisket confit.

    Our reservation unexpectedly got pushed back but we were very well accommodated despite the timing!! The manager and staff were all very kind to us and we really felt welcomed. Food was amazing, drinks were delicious. Can’t wait to go back! I would order a million of the crudos if I could! Hamachi was so flavorful and the scallops were l decadent and delightful! The avocado margarita was amazing with both mezcal and regular tequila. Though with just the tequila, the drink was much more creamy!

    It is a Mexican meal with true culinary art, an avant-garde combination with Nikeei and an explosion of flavors on the palate. I have already booked again at Alma Fonda Fina and at the one in Boulder, I want to go a thousand more times, the service is exceptional. I congratulate its owner for the Gastronomic Concept and its Chef. WE LOVED IT A THOUSAND TIMES, I WANT TO GO AND REPEAT EVERYTHING.

    We sat at the counter and really enjoyed chatting with the chef throughout our meal. It felt like we were hanging out at his house, eating at the kitchen island while he cooked. The chef recommended the camote asado, callo de hacha al horno, enmoladas de pollo, and the taco de suadero. Our favorite bites were the enmoladas de pollo and the taco de suadero. The tortillas and sauces are so good! We also had the birria de borrego which was really good but not quite worth the price compared to the other dishes we enjoyed.

    Simply wonderful food and service. Local neighborhood environment w/ extremely high end and interesting cuisine and preparation. Younger foodie vibe, but as 60 year olds we felt right at home. Special experience and a great find.
