The Morton Hotel is our small boutique hotel, inspired by members of The Bloomsbury Group. Our hotel offers a taste of English heritage, just moments from Russell Square Underground Station. Afternoon Tea is served in The Library, an elegant, welcoming lounge bar inspired by Charleston House, the country home of the Bloomsbury Group. It is the perfect setting to indulge in traditional Afternoon Tea with friends or family. Tuck into a selection of dainty sandwiches, warm scones served with cream and jam, and an assortment of delicious cakes. Why not add a glass of Prosecco to toast a special occasion? It is the ultimate treat for a birthday, anniversary, or special trip to London.

We were the only ones there but they were ready for us. Hard to figure out how to get in the building. It was nice enough. I expected to be having tea in a busy tearoom but we were the only ones there. It was quiet. Staff was very attentive. Would just recommend that you let guests know how to get in the building.

We were the only guests. Unfortunately no view as located in a cellar. Poor salted food. To expensive for this quality.

They were unprepared for us. Unapologetic in the delays to get service. We were the only customers for Sunday afternoon tea and now it makes sense. Took over an hour for sandwiches which not everyone at the table received the three varieties. When we requested more we were initially told it would take over an hour to prepare. After an hour of waiting we were told that they would not be providing any more sandwiches as they did not have any prepared. Very disappointing. Would not recommend.

Delightful quiet lounge area with attentive service. We were the only customers. The tea was good. The food was ample, if oddly proportioned, 5 sandwiches and 3 scones between 2 people. The sandwiches were well-filled and, we were told, freshly made. But the bread was thicker than usual for afternoon tea and was dry on the outside, not fresh from the packet. The scones were also not as fresh as hoped for. Overall, a great place to meet a friend and talk at length.

We were the only diners having afternoon tea that day downstairs in the sitting area next to the reception. It caught the staff out a bit, so we had to await the tea preparation. The staff were excellent and most helpful and attentive. Unfortunately the tea itself wasn’t particularly special. The 3 rolls each were freshly prepared, as were the scones I think. However, the small cakes and sweet stuff seemed possibly stored or not freshly baked .. and really not that tasty sadly. The staff went a long way to make a good gluten free option for one of our party at short notice (though we had requested it). That’s was faultless and most appreciated!

The hotel was smaller than expected. No fault of them but the bar was small and we were the only patrons. The afternoon tea selection consisted of English breakfast or Earl Grey tea bags. Not exactly the most inspired choice. Couldn’t they even stretch to loose tea? The scones were nice but the cakes looked to be straight out of a packet. The £25 per head price tag seemed very expensive for the offering. Maybe more geared to tourists than locals
