Throughout the space of Public, a modernist sensibility is blended with a classic American, Newport mansion drawing room theme. It's design is inspired by the existing architecture of the Masonic Temple and it's Rhode Island Capital Statehouse neighbor. Public's masculine and warm setting will be a meeting place for hipsters and Senators alike.
Please keep in mind that we are next to a theatre and it greatly affects reservations and seating times.

I love the setting here and I always make a reservation here when I am seeing a performance next door at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium. The host is a great guy and the food is very good as well. Great setting and very good food.

Great place to go before going to The Vets. No cheese on the charcuterie board, though, which was a surprise.

The lobster carbonara was great. The service that I get from August ( who I request every time I go to Public Kitchen and Bar) was first rate as always. And Christopher the manager always welcomes me with a friendly manner. Another great experience!!

We enjoyed our server, Robert so very much. Dinner was very good. Loved the eggplant chips and the cocktails were fabulous!!!

Great service and several local brews on tap. The chicken sandwich tasted just like Chic Fil A (which is a good thing). Nice vibe.

Took forever to get food we had a reservation but the worst table walk in were seated in main dining room we were by the exit alcove very. Isolated

The lobster cobonara dish that I had was excellent. My server August as always made my dinner at Public Kitchen and Bar a very pleasant one and his service and interaction is wonderful When I arrived the manager Chris took me to my seat and he is very friendly and makes you feel very welcome to the restaurant.

I was pleasantly surprised by my experience here. My meal was delicious and the service perfect. Due to all the hard surfaces, sound levels can be high, but the host considerately seated me away from the noisier tables.

Food was ok but nothing special that would bring me back to the restaurant. It was very convenient to the Vets Auditorium. We had manhattans at the bar which were expertly made.
