   Portland City Grill – A Valentine’s Dinner with Mixed Impressions My partner and I spent Valentine’s weekend in Portland and decided to have dinner at Portland City Grill on Valentine’s Day. With its stunning city views and reputation, we were excited for a special evening. The ambiance was a highlight. The restaurant had a warm, inviting atmosphere with live music performances featuring songs from different decades, which added a nice touch to the evening. We started with a dozen oysters, which arrived promptly. However, the experience took a turn when our main courses were served. The kitchen staff brought out two orders of escargot, crab cakes, and a ribeye steak all at once, instead of staggering the dishes. Even our server was surprised by this. This meant we had to eat quickly before our food got cold, which unfortunately, it did. As we tried to enjoy our meal at a reasonable pace, the bussers repeatedly came by, asking to clear plates while we were still eating. This added to the rushed feeling, making it difficult to fully enjoy the food and the experience. While the food itself was good, the service timing and pacing left much to be desired. For a fine dining restaurant, we expected a more thoughtful and relaxed dining experience, especially on a special occasion like Valentine’s Day. Would we return? Possibly, but with tempered expectations regarding service. The ambiance and food quality were enjoyable, but the rushed experience took away from what should have been a more memorable and leisurely evening.

   We went for dinner on Valentine’s Day, we had reservations and requested to be sat at the window but got placed at a booth next to the kitchen- it was quite loud but the staff drama was interesting lol. The food was good except the seafood tower did not taste fresh,but seemed expensive compared to other restaurants in the area.

   Greeted warmly and enthusiastically at the front desk. Seated right away, server was most attentive and professional. Made it a great business meeting/bonding evening.

   It seemed like our server did not care at all especially about my mother’s hundredth birthday party The food was very good The general manager was absolutely stellar. Caring, knowledgeable about food, service, and everything else. Absolutely excellent. The music in the bar was absolutely beautiful. He was talented and we loved it and enhanced our The food was pretty good. I can’t say it was excellent by any means. Absolutely beautiful view. Incredible we loved it thank you.

   We have had some mixed success finding good steak options in Portland, with many times my husband getting the check and saying it wasn't worth it. Well finally we found a spot that lived up to the hype and cost. Everything here was incredible - from the bread to the oysters to the ribeye - to the seafood. Service was absolutely phenomenal- with lots of personal touches to celebrate my husband's birthday. The view was great as well and I would definitely come back at night to the city lit up. This is definitely at the top of our list for seafood & steak.

    Beautiful space and excellent service. The appetizers and desserts were delicious but the entrees (all 4 of them) were marginal. Sorry to say that, but it's the truth and this is the second time we've had this experience
