Opening their first location in the spring of 1984, Helen Babalos & Thomas Makris brought us Anatoli Souvlaki. They had a dream of combining the food of Greece with great service to add some Mediterranean style to the North Vancouver restaurant selection. They opened in the sleepy neighbourhood of lower Lonsdale and lived above the restaurant to ensure the quality and service. They were able to create a North Vancouver staple, a successful thriving restaurant based on faithful patrons and a reputation that has been passed through generations.In 2011, the family-run restaurant was taken over by their sons Alexi and Iani. In 2015, the brothers, alongside their cousin Daniel Bergman, expanded on their parent’s dream by opening The Greek in Yaletown, with a focus on mezze-style dining. Now open in Gastown. Thomas Makris, from the Island of Skopelos, fell in love when he met Helen Babalos. They met at Orestes Greek restaurant in 1974, while on a Greek dancing tour of North America. Thisis a beautiful dining experience for a date night or anniversary or just a night out. The room is decorated with beautiful done nude photographs so be aware if your coming with children. The service was impeccable! We had the meatballs and they happily added a side of spaghetti to make it an entree . This dish was incredibly tasty. We also ordered by recommendation, the seafood spaghetti dish which I would order again. Two really delish dishes!!! We will be back!

First time here and it did not disappoint! The atmosphere was warm and inviting - not too loud but a really great energy. The food was by far the best greek we have had in years - so flavourful! We live in the valley but will definitely be coming back to this gem!

Exceptional food and wonderful choices of beverages. The staff was great with the kids and could recognize when to check in with parents about drink options. Our server was excellent at recognizing when we needed more time, when we needed help, and who to talk to in order to minimize disruptions or interruptions. The meats and seafood were prepared to perfect finishes. Portions suggested were reasonable and the overall bill was actually quite reasonable for a meal of this calibre.
