Two Italian guys in their twenties met in Manchester to find out that they shared a unique passion; they both loved and missed, the Italian Aperitivo, the ritual of drinking, nibbling and relaxing after work. By the end of that very same year, Veeno was born: a place where everyone could enjoy great wines and the most authentic Spuntini – platters of meats, cheeses and other appetisers imported from strictly selected Italian producers. Our wines come from Caruso & Minini, our family vineyard back in Sicily where great-grandfather Antonio planted the first vines in the XIX century.     My daughter and I visited for afternoon tea. Staff were very attentive to our needs and my daughter's nut allergy. Nothing too much trouble, smiling happy staff who made the experience even better. Food was amazing, very tasty and plenty of it!. The hall was decorated beautifully for Christmas. An enjoyable visit.

    I had booked a table in the restaurant but was actually seated in the bar dining area. However the table we had was fine as it was reasonably quiet. The service , food and atmosphere were very good. The staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. I have been to The Royal Oak a few times at various times of the day over past 12 months as it is an ideal place to meet ip with friends and will be going again in the new year.

    Clearly a popular venue early on a Saturday evening. More an Italian wine bar which includes food rather than a restaurant. Never the less the pizza and pasta dishes we had were up to expectations and tasty. We had wine at the cheaper end of the wine list (£22/bottle) which was quite acceptable. We will resist the temptation on future visits to try wine at £95 a bottle!
