Best Neighborhood Gem Restaurants in Oak Forest

Definitely a go to place. Food and cocktails were excellent. Parking a bit challenging.

We were seated 10 minutes early for our 1pm reservation. Out server arrived at our table immediately and greeted us. We put in drink orders then when she came with those we ordered our appetizer and meal. We thought it might take a bit of time as the place was full but it was all out quickly. Ordered thr pot pie and braised beef and both good. This is where service got slow but I think they seated 3 or 4 new tables in her area at once so she was busy. Ordered thr mint cheesecake and that was amazing. Bill was $80 plus tax so not really bad for 2 people to have a nice meal with drinks and dessert. The tree and Christmas decorations were beautiful and we lucked out and were seated near the tree. Will make it a tradition each year to go back. Lucked out on the reservation because we missed it when it opened. So glad we got one!

We have been patronizing this restaurant many years. The food is excellent and very reasonable. I do notice that when it is crowded there isn’t enough help to keep up with the volume of orders and service. They should increase the number of servers and especially the bar tending staff. Our waiter Joey was very attentive. I believe that he was waiting on more tables than he should have. The upper management should look into increasing staff or implement more efficiencies.

The food was OUTSTANDING. Steak was cooked absolutely perfectly,. Seasoned just right. Upgraded our sides to garlic whipped and was not disappointed.for dessert we were informed they have a pastry chef in house and l desserts were made fresh. After a very hard decision we planned on a chocolate truffle cake and it DELICIOUS. A perfect dessert to end our meal . Our cocktails were tasty and beautiful. Service was AMAZING. Our server knew menu items , and had fantastic recommendations. Checked on us frequent enough that we were never without anything. Water was ice cold and always filled , our finished dishes where picked up as they where being pushed aside. The lighting and ambience was absolutely perfect for date night . Seating was comfortable and intimate. We will be returning in the future.

I cannot count the number of visits we've had to The Girl and the Goat, but it continues to be a favorite for both personal and professional dining. I brought three colleagues, who have never been, to the restaurant for dinner. One diner is vegetarian, but there are menu offerings and options available to provide them with enough to eat. All three were quite impressed with the food. My only complaint would be our table was right next to the kitchen, which can be loud. However, we made due, and had an enjoyable meal. Service is always very good, and the cocktails are fun. If you're interested in dining, make sure you book way ahead, as there is almost no chance to get a table day of.
