The Lexington is more than a restaurant, it’s an institution. Located on the corner of Lexington Parkway and Grand Avenue, this St. Paul community was the most fashionable at the turn of the 19th century. The St. Paul elite lived just blocks away and the first electric trolley brought visitors up and down Grand Avenue. The Lexington opened in 1935, after the end of prohibition, and was a popular neighborhood bar to gather and socialize. Previously operating as a speakeasy, the expansive wood panels were perfect for hiding a little booze and one can only imagine the shenanigans going on beyond the hidden staircase behind the coat check. For decades following, The Lex, as it’s called by locals and enthusiasts alike, was the place to be seen; business dealings, cocktail hours, and milestone celebrations were a regular occurrence for St. Paul socialites.

Really enjoyed our experience at 1881! 2 couples celebrated Valentines night at the Union Depot! Service was good, and the food was very good! Free parking indoors made it even better, considering the snow falling outside! We will go back again!

I am in a wheelchair normally. We arrived with a reservation during a snowstorm. There was handicapped parking listed on the website and it was open and easy to use right by the valet parking. My husband went in and they seated us right away in a very handicapped accessible area. I did not need to use my wheelchair it was so nice. The wait staff is superb. The bar staff really knew their stuff. Wish more wines on the menu that were not from California. The food was superb. This is a very special occasion restaurant my family has been to for years for family birthdays, Valentine's Day, anniversaries. It never disappoints. It was hard when they closed to remodel but when they reopened, we were back and it was a beautiful space. My family was in St. Paul. We are in Cambridge and we still drive there.

Took the Intercontinental Hotel shuttle from the airport to the restaurant located in the hotel. So convenient! The food was excellent. The service a bit slow.. however not unusual these days. All in all a good dining experience.
