Best Comfort Food Restaurants in Fountain Valley

It was my wife's birthday, and she ordered the bone-in filet. The steak was ordered as medium rare, but came out a bit overdone. This was a bit uncomfortable, having to complain, but the staff took care to get her another steak, which did come out right. Also, we were compensated for the error with paid drinks.... The only real issure we had was the people who take care of parking the cars: They hardly speak English; they have no personality with the customer; and, half of them don't seem to know how to work in a valet service where the lady passenger is treated properly by taking care to open her door.... I would give the valet service here a two or three at the most.

Tea was nice. Some of the sandwiches had dry bread and the egg salad had onion in it. Desserts were good. It is sad that it is billed for 2 when some people don’t have 2 people in their party or a group of 7 or 9 cab’t be arranged. Music was not appropriate for a Christmas tea… should be Christmas music. Overall, it was nice for a one time visit, but not for multiple visits.

I was extremely impressed by everything today. Everyone was friendly from the first face, and we were quickly brought to our table. The place was huge and beautiful, reminding me of Yellowstone Lodge, but with a much darker stain, and quite full, but tables were still open for other reservations. We ordered, and it seemed as if the food magically appeared in the shortest amount of time. The food was top notch, very flavorful, and so much we clearly have leftovers for the weekend. In addition, we had a gentleman clearing tables ask us if we needed anything. It has been a while since I have seen employees, who were that attentive to customer needs. My only complaint is that I was shocked that they did not offer some form of roll, or specialty bread. We will return next year!

The Thanksgiving Day dinner was excellent. It was crowded and service was very busy. My only complaint is with OpenTable. When I went onto the Mimi's website to make the reservation, it directed me to use the app. It appeared to work seamlessly. I received a request through OpenTable, both through text and email, to confirm my reservation, which I did. However, when I showed up at the Mimi's Restaurant, they did not have my reservation. Apparently there were many others who used OpenTable, and the restaurant did not have their reservations. This appeared to be an issue between OpenTable and Mimi's. Obviously on one of the busiest days of the year, it caused chaos. There was already a long list of walk-ins that the employees were attempting to accommodate, only to have to add those who had OpenTable reservations that did not go through. There were many angry people who simply left the restaurant not willing to wait behind all of the walk-ins. Thanks to the employees, who scrambled to find us a table, we had to wait but not a very long time. I give five stars to Mimi's and zero stars to OpenTable who needs to fix their system. Will not use them again.

This was our 8th year coming for the Thanksgiving Buffet and it was superb as always. They had turkey, brisket, and ham which was all tender and delicious. Everything from the omelette station to the sides, charcuterie, desserts, seafood etc were incredible. I ate till I could not eat anyone. The staff is all so friendly and accommodating and management was there and courteous as well. I love recommending this place as it is a bit of a secret and while I appreciate a lack of crowds, I don't want them to disappear. Check it out, you will not be disappointed.
