Christopher Hirsheimer and Melissa Hamilton—the women behind Canal House Station—are cooks, writers, and artists. In 2007 they founded Canal House, which includes a publishing venture and a culinary, photography, and design studio. Their cookbook "Canal House Cooks Every Day" received a James Beard Award in 2012. In 2019, Christopher and Melissa opened Canal House Station, a hidden gem tucked into an elegantly restored 1870s train station on the banks of the Delaware River in Milford, NJ. Their idiosyncratic, modern American cuisine is inspired by local ingredients that are ripe and in season in Hunterdon and Bucks County. They are two women, cooking together, and sharing their love of gathering people around the table to eat good food.     Food and drink is were really great as was the beautiful view of the river. I had a pear spritzer and the Bucks County breakfast and loved both. Potatoes, eggs, bacon…cooked perfect. Service was very good. Parking is valet only and a bit pricey. Overall very good experience though and wouldn’t hesitate to do it again.

    Terrain’s food was very good. My partner’s Frittata was a bit overdone but my pasta (mushroom:butternut squash) was excellent. The flower pot bread with house-made butter was wonderful. Fresh, tasty, creamy. Appetizer Fried Quinoa with the yogurt sauce was lovely. Our server Luci was such a kind soul; catered to our needs and was very engaging and attentive. The ambiance was serene, incorporated horticulture and very beautiful.

    What a fabulous experience! From the moment we arrived and entered this beautifully appointed and cozy restaurant we knew we were in for a special time. The food was exceptional-each course providing layers of flavor- and the service was excellent. Thank you to the owners, kitchen and wait staff for providing a memorable experience.
